Stordalen Chapel
Stordalen Chapel () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Meråker Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Stordalen. It is one of the three churches in the Meråker parish which is part of the Stjørdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white and yellow, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1863 by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 130 people. History A Royal Decree on 28 October 1861 granted permission for the parish to build a chapel on Stordalen in Meråker for the people who lived in the Stordalen and Teveldalen valleys along the border with Sweden. The chapel was designed by Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The lead builder for the construction was Gunnar Hågensen Gresset from Hegra. Stordalen Chapel was consecrated on 22 July 1863. Masfjorden is a municipality in the central part of Vestland county in Norway. The municipality is located in the Nordhordland district of the county. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Masfjordnes. Other villages in the municipality include Frøyset, Hosteland, Matre, and Solheim, Hordaland, Solheim. The municipality is centered on the Masfjorden (fjord), Masfjorden which almost divides the municipality completely into a north side and a south side. Stordalen, Sweden
Stordalen Mire (elevation 351 m) is a mire which lies in the subarctic region in northernmost Sweden. It is 10 km east of the town of Abisko close to Lake Torneträsk. It is a 25 ha palsa mire, which is common in the discontinuous permafrost zone. The mire has two major topographical features: elevated palsas and depressions. The palsas are dry, ombrotrophic plateaus (or hummocks) with permafrost cores that raise the peat surface above its surroundings that is the wet minerotrophic depressions, largely permafrost free and water saturated. The small-scale topography is often very patchy in its structure, creating an environment where localities nearby each other have distinct differences in moisture, permafrost and nutrient status, which creates differences in vegetation types. Of these subhabitats the vegetation in the dry parts consists mainly of mosses, lichens and dwarf shrubs, whereas the wet parts are dominated by sphagnum or tall graminoids. Stordalen Havn
Stordalen Havn is a small, sheltered natural harbour at the northern end of Torsukattak Fjord in the district of Nanortalik, in Greenland. Nearby Alleruusakasiit and Angiartarfik mountains have a good reputation among alpinists. Geography Stordalen Havn is located at the bend in the Torssukatak Fjord, near the settlement of Tasiusaq, Kujalleq, Tasiussaq. It is surrounded by mountains, the highest of which are Agdlerussakasit (1743 m) to the south of the river, and Angiartarfik (1824 m) to the north. Since there are shoaling problems at low tide, anchorage is best made a short distance from the shore. Access can sometimes be impeded by ice floes in late spring, summer and autumn, but the sea is mostly clear.
