Adriaan Stoop
__NOTOC__ Adriaan Stoop (18 October 1856 – 7 September 1935) was a Dutch oil prospector and mining engineer. Life and career Stoop was born in Dordrecht. He graduated from Delft University with a mining degree in 1878, was posted to the Department of Mines and arrived in the Dutch East Indies. Realizing he knew little about oil prospecting, Stoop requested paid leave for a study trip to the United States. Although the American oil industry, afraid of new competition in Asia, refused to see him, Stoop was still able to collect essential new information on the latest American drilling techniques. His report became the "bible" for oil drilling technology in the Dutch East Indies. Stoop proposed that the Dutch colonial government should start a state petroleum enterprise, but the idea was rejected. Andre Stoop
Andre Stoop (born 8 October 1960) is a Namibian retired rugby union and rugby league player. At fullback he played domestic rugby union in South Africa and played for the Namibian national team. In 1991 he changed codes to play rugby league in the United Kingdom. Between 1991 and 1996 he played for Wigan, London Crusaders and Keighley Cougars. In 1996, he returned to rugby union and signed for Blackheath. Career Stoop played in South African domestic competitions, the Sports Pienaar Cup and Currie Cup for Namibian side South West Africa between 1980 and 1991. In 1988 he was named Namibian Sportsman of the Year. Between March 1990 and August 1991 he was capped 11 times for the Namibian national team. Dirk Stoop (ca 1615–1686) was a widely travelled painter and engraver of the Dutch Golden Age. Alternative versions of his name include ''Dirck Stoff'', ''Theodorus (van der) Stoop'', ''Thierry'' (the French version) and ''Rod(e)rigo'', by which he was known in Portugal. Georgina Gent (formerly Stoop, born 13 January 1988) is an English tennis player. She won two singles and two doubles titles on the ITF Circuit, and reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 178. The AEGON Award-winning former professional player was coached by Damien Roberts. Personal life Stoop's parents are named Angus and Tessa and she has three older siblings, Sam, Olly and Milly, who she used to play tennis against. Her mother, Tessa, an interior designer spent time with her children playing tennis during their childhood. Ineke Anežka Lucia Stoop (born 1953) is a retired Dutch survey statistician who was Head of Methodology at the (SCB) and chaired the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC). Education and career Stoop was born on 14 March 1953 in The Hague. She earned a master's degree in psychology at Leiden University in 1980, and completed her Ph.D. in 2005 at Utrecht University. She was a researcher at Leiden University from 1973 to 1983 before joining the Netherlands Institute for Social Research in 1983, and became Head of Methodology at the Institute in 1990. She became chair of the European Statistical Advisory Committee in 2014, and retired in 2019. Pieter Stoop is a Dutch painter of large abstract paintings. Pieter Stoop acquired his artistic education at the Academy of Catholic Education, Tilburg (1962–1966) and at the Jan van Eyck Academy of Maastricht (1966–1972). At the end of his studies he obtained the Prize for the Visual Arts of the city of Maastricht (1972), and later on he received financial support to do a study trip to Morocco (prins Bernhard Fonds, 1974), and to New York City en Mexico (travel grant CRM, 1979).
