Stonehouse Violet F.C.
Stonehouse Violet Football Club was a Scottish football club, based in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire (situated between Larkhall and Strathaven). The last incarnation of the club formed in 1966 as Stonehouse Thistle, changing their name to Violet in 1969. A previous Stonehouse Violet club had played at Loch Park in the town from 1924 until 1961. Members of the Scottish Junior Football Association, they competed in the Lanarkshire League, the Central Regional League and latterly in the SJFA West Region. The club were based at Tilework Park and wore blue, orange and white strips (uniforms). Violet were runners-up in the 1977–78 Scottish Junior Cup. They were forced to withdraw from league competition in December 2008 due to financial difficulties, but retained non-playing membership of the SJFA and rejoined the Central Second Division for the start of season 2010–11. Stonehouse is a rural village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is on Avon Water in an area of natural beauty and historical interest, near to the Clyde Valley. It is on the A71 trunk road between Edinburgh and Kilmarnock, near the towns of Hamilton, Larkhall and Strathaven. The population of Stonehouse is around 7,500. Tom Forsyth
Thomas Forsyth (23 January 1949 – 14 August 2020) was a Scottish football player and coach. Forsyth played as a defender for Motherwell, Rangers and Scotland. Playing career Club Forsyth started his career at junior club Stonehouse Violet, then spent five years at Motherwell, playing over 200 times for the club before being signed by Rangers in October 1972. He scored the winning goal in the 1973 Scottish Cup Final against Old Firm rivals Celtic from six inches. During his Rangers career, Forsyth made 332 appearances in all competitions and won three league championships, four Scottish Cups and two League Cups; these successes included two domestic trebles, in 1975–76 and 1977–78. Brian Martin (born 24 February 1963 in Bellshill) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a central defender, best known for his seven-year spell at Motherwell. Club career Martin began his career in the Scottish lower leagues with Albion Rovers and Stenhousemuir. He then dropped back into the Junior grade with Shotts Bon Accord for three years before joining second-tier Falkirk in 1985. In his first season with the ''Bairns'' the club achieved promotion to the top division, and maintained their status in the second. In 1987 Martin moved to Hamilton Academical, and in his single campaign there he again helped the ''Accies'' win promotion, this time as champions. By then he had already moved on to St Mirren, where he stayed for three seasons in the Scottish Premier Division before being signed by fellow top-level club Motherwell in November 1991 for £175,000. Motherwell ( sco, Mitherwall, gd, Tobar na Màthar) is a town and former burgh in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, south east of Glasgow. It has a population of around 32,120. SJFA West Region Central District Second Division
The Scottish Junior Football Central District Second Division was fourth-tier division of the West Region of the Scottish Junior Football Association. The three highest-placed teams at the end of the season were promoted to the Central District First Division. In 2018, the lower leagues in the West Region were reorganised, no longer being split geographically, with the result that the Central First and Second Divisions and the Ayrshire Division merged and were separated into two tiers ( League One and League Two).
