Bjørn Stokstad
Bjørn Espen Stokstad (born 13 April 1940 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz clarinettist and architect, married to visual artist Anne Weiglin. Biography From the 1960s, Stokstad was considered one of the leading clarinetist of traditional style in Norway. He started his own orchestra in 1962, and was 1964-85 together with Tore Jensen, leading Stokstad/Jensen Tradband, including trombonist Kjell Haugen, banjoist and singer Børre Frydenlund, bassist Svein Gusrud, and drummer Kjetil Lønborg Jensen. The two friends was also front figures in the tradjazz band Norske Rytmekonger 1985-94. Stokstad/Jensen Trad. Band was a concept within Norwegian traditional jazz in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Marilyn Stokstad
Marilyn Jane Stokstad (February 16, 1929 – March 4, 2016) was an American art historian, educator, and curator. A scholar of medieval and Spanish art, Stokstad was Judith Harris Murphy Distinguished Professor of Art History Emeritus at the University of Kansas, and also served as director of the Spencer Museum of Art. Career Born in Lansing to Olaf and Edythe Gardiner, Stokstad received a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Carleton College in 1950. Her honors thesis was on Greek Revival architecture in Michigan. She then earned a Master of Arts in Art History from Michigan State University in 1953, studying Norwegian art and writing a thesis titled "Norwegian Mural Painting from 1910 to 1950." She was then awarded a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Michigan in 1957. Her doctoral dissertation was on the Portico of Glory of the Santiago de Compostela, and was supervised by Harold Wethey. Ove Stokstad
Ove Stokstad (9 August 1939 – 5 February 2018) was a Norwegian printmaker and jazz musician. He was born in Trondheim to Eva Prior Bergh and Rolf Colbjørnsen Stokstad, and was married to textile artist Gudrun Skeie Stokstad, who died in 2016. He is represented with art works in a number of museums, including the National Gallery of Norway, and museums in Östersund, Reykjavik, Darmstadt, Couvin, Ottawa, Oregon, Boston and New York City. He was appointed professor at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art from 1996 to 2002. As jazz musician Stokstad played clarinet and saxophones with jazz groups such as Bodega Band and Søyr, as well as leading his own ensembles. He also toured with Concerts Norway several times. Trygve Stokstad (25 November 1902 – 26 April 1979) was a Norwegian boxer who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics and in the 1924 Summer Olympics. In 1920 he was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the welterweight class after losing his fight to William Clark.
