Stockport Savings Bank LLC is a retail bank that was established in 1824 in Stockport, then in Cheshire. It was run on a conservative basis but remained independent until 1975 when it became part of TSB North West Central, following the Page Committee’s recommendation that the TSBs be grouped into larger regional entities. Stockport is a town in Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Manchester, south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and north of Macclesfield. The River Goyt, Rivers Goyt and River Tame, Greater Manchester, Tame merge to create the River Mersey here. It is the main settlement of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. Trustee Savings Bank
The Trustee Savings Bank (TSB) was a British financial institution that operated between 1810 and 1995 when it was merged with Lloyds Bank (historic), Lloyds Bank. Trustee savings banks originated to accept savings deposits from those with moderate means. Their share (finance), shares were not traded on the stock market but, unlike Mutual organization, mutually held building society, building societies, depositors had no voting rights; nor did they have the power to direct the financial and managerial goals of the organisation. Directors were appointed as trustees (hence the name) on a voluntary basis. The first trustee savings bank was established by the Presbyterian polity, Rev. Underbank Hall
Underbank Hall is a 16th-century town house in the centre of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England (). The hall dates back to the 15th century and became a Grade II* listed building on 13 May 1952. It was the home of a branch of the Arden family of Bredbury, who were related to William Shakespeare on his mother's side. In 1823 it was sold by William Arden, 2nd Baron Alvanley to pay off debts, and became a bank. A banking hall was then added to the rear in 1919.
