Katherine Knight (artist)
Katherine Knight (born 1955) is a Canadian artist and documentary film director whose artistic practice considers the relationships between landscape and personal experiences of time and place. In addition to her artistic practice, Katherine Knight teaches in the Visual Art Department at York University. Biography Knight was born in Ottawa, Ontario. Knight completed at Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1980 and a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Victoria in 1984. In 2006, Katherine Knight and David Craig founded Site Media Inc, which has produced several documentaries about notable Canadian artists such as Annie Pootoogook, Wanda Koop (''KOOP: The Art of Wanda Koop''), Spring Hurlbut and Arnaud Maggs (Spring & Arnaud), and Colette Urban (''Pretend Not to See Me)''. Max Dean (born June 29, 1949) is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist. Life Dean was born June 29, 1949, in Leeds, England. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1952, settling in Vancouver. Work In the late 1970s and 1980s, Dean did multimedia performances involving his body in conjunction with sound, photography and other media. Dean`s ''Telephone Project'' (1982) was an installation that allowed up to 16 persons to talk on a telephone line. Since the 1980s, Dean has become known for his installations that use robotics and electronics to achieve artistic effects. His work ''As Yet Untitled'' (1992-1995) involves a robotic arm that presents generic family photos to the viewer, who must act to prevent the photo from being immediately shredded. The piece received extensive press and critical coverage and was acquired by the Art Gallery of Ontario. Prostate cancer is cancer of the prostate. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancerous tumor worldwide and is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related mortality among men. The prostate is a gland in the male reproductive system that surrounds the urethra just below the bladder. It is located in the hypogastric region of the abdomen. Hot Docs Audience Awards
The Hot Docs Audience Awards are annual film awards, presented by the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival to the most popular films as voted by festival audiences. There are currently two awards presented: the Hot Docs Audience Award, presented since 2001 to the most popular film overall regardless of nationality, and the Rogers Audience Award, presented since 2017 to the most popular Canadian film. The Rogers Audience Award comes with a CA$50,000 prize from the Rogers Group of Funds, and is considered the most important award at the festival. Although the festival releases a preview list of the Top 20 contenders in audience award voting while the festival is underway, the Canadian films in the list are identified only as a film that is eligible for the Rogers Award rather than by title, so as not to give away the Rogers Award contenders in advance of the final announcement.
