Stewart Davies
Stewart Davies was chairman of Darlington Football Club from 2004 to 2006. Davies is an accountant with many years experience as senior partner in an insolvency practice. He, Melvyn Laughton and Sean Verity made up the Sterling Consortium, who offered high-interest loans to Football League clubs after the collapse of ITV Digital left many in financial difficulties and unable to obtain finance elsewhere. Recipients included Chesterfield, Barnsley, and Cambridge United. In 2002, Darlington F.C. chairman George Reynolds borrowed from the consortium and from Davies personally in order to complete construction of the club's new stadium, the Darlington Arena. Darlington is a market town in the Borough of Darlington, County Durham, England. It lies on the River Skerne, west of Middlesbrough and south of Durham. ITV Digital
ITV Digital was a British digital terrestrial television broadcaster which launched a pay-TV service on the world's first digital terrestrial television network. Its main shareholders were Carlton Communications plc and Granada plc, owners of multiple licences of the ITV network. Starting as ONdigital in 1998, the service was rebranded as ITV Digital in July 2001. George Reynolds (business)
George Reynolds (12 May 1936 – 13 April 2021) was a British businessman best known for his time as chairman of Darlington Football Club. He was found guilty of tax evasion in 2005. Football Reynolds became the chairman of Darlington Football Club in 1999 and built the team a new stadium costing £20 million, which he named after himself. Reynolds was originally very popular with fans but he then took the club into administration and left the club in January 2004, just months after the new 25,000-seat stadium (one of the largest stadiums outside the Premier League) was opened. The stadium was renamed shortly afterwards. The Darlington Arena
The Darlington Arena is a rugby union stadium, located in Darlington, County Durham. The arena was opened in the summer of 2003, as the new home ground of Darlington F.C., following the decision to leave their previous ground, Feethams, after the 2002–03 season. With a seating capacity of 25,000, the arena rarely attracted large crowds, with the usual attendance being around 2,000. The cost of the arena caused the club to go into administration three times. Eventually, the club decided to leave the arena after nine years following the 2011–12 season. George Houghton is a former property tycoon who was the chairman of Darlington Football Club. He became chairman in March 2006 following Stewart Davies. In 2006, Houghton traveled to Poland for talks to establish feeder clubs. In 2010, Houghton stated his intention to step down as chairman in two years' time. Houghton appointed the first ever vice chairman at the club on 2 December 2008, Raj Singh. Houghton left the club in February 2009.
