Stewart Bruce (cricketer)
Stewart Bruce (born 2 April 1969) is a former Scottish cricketer. Bruce was a left-handed batsman who bowled left-arm fast-medium. He was born at Edinburgh, Midlothian. Bruce played two matches for Huntingdonshire in the 2002 MCCA Knockout Trophy against Lincolnshire and the Leicestershire Cricket Board. He later made two List A appearances for Scotland in the 2004 totesport League against Worcestershire and Sussex. In the match against Worcestershire he took the wickets of Vikram Solanki and Gareth Batty, finishing with figures of 2/28 from three overs. He wasn't required to bat in this match, with Worcestershire winning by 9 runs. The match against Scotland ended in no result, with Bruce not required to bat or bowl. In 2004, Bruce also played for a Scotland XI in the European Cricket Championship Division One. Bruce Baronets
There have been four baronetcies created for persons with the surname Bruce, two in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia and two in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Two of the creations are extant as of 2010. The Bruce Baronetcy, of Stenhouse in the County of Clackmannan, was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on 29 September 1628 for William Bruce, with remainder to his heirs male whatsoever. He was a descendant of Sir Robert Bruce of Clackmannan (14th century), who was also the ancestor of the ancestor of the Earls of Elgin. The eleventh Baronet was an author and adventurer. Michael Bruce (1823–1883), grandson of Patrick Craufurd Bruce, fifth son of the sixth Baronet, was a general in the British Army. His grandson Ian Robert Craufurd George Mary Bruce (1890–1956) was a brigadier in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. Stuart Bruce (engineer)
Stuart Robert Bruce (born 20 October 1962) is an English recording engineer. He was the engineer for the recording of the Band Aid's charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" on 25 November 1984. He was born in Northolt, Middlesex. Bruce started his career at Trevor Horn's Sarm West Studios. When Horn offered Bob Geldof and Midge Ure the studio free of charge for 24 hours to record the charity single, but was unavailable to produce it, Bruce was approached to engineer and mix what became one of the biggest selling singles ever. With many of the most famous artists of the time participating, and seven film crews in attendance, he worked straight through that day and night. He was on his way to the mastering suite the next morning when he heard the song on the radio; Geldof had been given a 1/4 inch stereo tape to take to ''The Radio 1 Breakfast Show''.
