Stephen Reed
Stephen Reed (September 26, 1801 – July 12, 1877) was an American physician, newspaper publisher and geologist. Reed, the younger son of John and Susanna (Beach) Reed, was born in Cornwall, Connecticut, on September 26, 1801. When he was ten years old, his parents moved to Canaan, Connecticut, from where he went to college. He graduated from Yale College in 1824. After two or three years spent in teaching school and in studying medicine, he established himself as a physician in Goshen, Connecticut. A year later he moved to Roxbury, Connecticut, and in 1831 to Richmond, Massachusetts. Finding the exposure to the severity of the weather too much for his rather delicate constitution, he gave up his profession in about 1837 and opened a boarding school for boys in Richmond. Steven Reed (political Scientist)
Steven Robert Reed (born April 4, 1947) is a political scientist and Professor of Modern Government in the Faculty of Policy Studies at Chuo University in Tokyo. He has held positions at the University of Alabama and Harvard University, and he has served as a visiting professor at Stanford University, University of Washington, and Chiba University. His main area of research is Japanese elections. Reed "calls himself an 'election junkie,'" and he has gathered and published a critical data-set of Japanese elections after World War II. Reviewers of his books note his "well-deserved reputation for insight and clarity in his writing on Japanese elections," combining "quality scholarship and an accessible writing style." Steve Reed (born 6 January 1956) is a former footballer who played for Doncaster Rovers mainly as a full back and went on to coach Doncaster Belles. Playing career Reed initially played for the Doncaster Rovers Juniors side and then became an apprentice. During this time, as a 17-year-old, he was selected for training at Lilleshall with the England Youth Team. His debut for the first team came in English Division 4 on 26 August 1972 in a 3–1 defeat at Cambridge United when he came on as substitute. The first of his two League goals didn't come until 21 March 1975 in a 3–2 home victory over Swansea City. His last game for Rovers was in December 1978. After making a total of 161 League, FA Cup and League Cup appearances, and scoring 4 goals, Reed went to play for Gainsborough Trinity. Steven Vincent Reed (born March 11, 1965) is an American former relief pitcher in Major League Baseball. Biography Reed was born in Los Angeles, California and graduated from Chatsworth High School. He played college baseball at Lewis-Clark State College, and played summer collegiate baseball for the Hazlet Elks of the Saskatchewan Major Baseball League prior to playing in the majors. Steven L. Reed (born February 20, 1974) is an American jurist, politician, and the mayor of Montgomery, Alabama. A member of the Democratic Party, he was a probate judge in Montgomery County. Reed is the first African-American mayor of Montgomery. Early life and education Steven L. Reed was born in Montgomery, Alabama, to Joe and Mollie Reed (née Perry) as one of three children. His father, Joe, was one of the first class of elected members of the Montgomery City Council from 1975 to 1999. Stephen Leslie Reed (born 18 June 1985) is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder. Career Reed was born in Barnstaple, Devon and began his career as a trainee with Yeovil Town, turning professional in September 2002. He made his Conference debut in April 2003, as a substitute in a 4–0 away win against Dagenham & Redbridge, his only appearance as Yeovil won promotion to the Football League. His league debut came in November 2003, Reed was sent off late in the game as Yeovil lost 2–1 to Bury, Bury's winner coming just two minutes after Reed's dismissal. In October 2004, Reed joined Forest Green Rovers on loan, spending two months with the Nailsworth side.
