Steven Lawayne Nelson
Steven Lawayne Nelson (February 18, 1987 – February 5, 2025) was an American convicted murderer, executed for the 2011 murder of 28-year-old Arlington, Texas, Arlington pastor Clinton "Clint" Dobson in Texas. Nelson was found guilty of the murder of Dobson who was smothered to death during a robbery bid at an Arlington church on March 3, 2011, and Capital punishment in Texas, sentenced to death on October 16, 2012. Nelson protested his innocence and claimed that he only acted as a lookout while pinpointing two of his friends as the real murderers of Dobson, saying that the alibi of both his friends was not sufficiently rebutted by his trial counsel. None of Nelson's DNA was found on the victim. Nelson's grounds of appeal were rejected, and his conviction and sentence were consequently upheld. In the United States, capital punishment (also known as the death penalty) is a legal penalty in 27 states (of which two, Oregon and Wyoming, do not currently have any inmates sentenced to death), throughout the country at the federal level, and in American Samoa. Richard Lee Tabler
Richard Lee Tabler (February 5, 1979 – February 13, 2025) was an American spree killer who was responsible for four murders committed in 2004. On Thanksgiving Day of 2004, Tabler and a co-defendant shot and killed two men at a nightclub in Killeen, Texas. Two days later, Tabler also killed two teenage girls who worked as dancers at the same nightclub where he committed the Thanksgiving Day double murder. Tabler was charged for these four murders, and subsequently sentenced to death for two of them, while his accomplice was jailed for life. Tabler, who had since lost his appeals against the death sentence, was executed on February 13, 2025, just 8 days after his 46th birthday. He was convicted and sentenced to death for the 1989 triple murder of a woman and her two teenage daughters in Houston, Texas, and is also the prime suspect in two additional murders with which he was never charged. Lethal injection is the practice of injecting one or more drugs into a person (typically a barbiturate, paralytic, and potassium) for the express purpose of causing death. The main application for this procedure is capital punishment, but the term may also be applied in a broader sense to include euthanasia and other forms of suicide.
