Steve Trumbo
Esteban Dale Trumbo Hawkes, commonly known as Steve Trumbo (born May 20, 1960), is an American former professional basketball player, with Spanish citizenship. At a height of 6'9'' he played at the center (basketball), center position. He was best known for his success in rebounding (was the best in rebounds in the Liga ACB two years in a row), and his great capacity for effort on the court, especially defensively. College career Trumbo played college basketball at BYU Cougars, Brigham Young University, where he did very well in the college level. Professional career Trumbo was chosen in the third round of the 1982 NBA draft, (number 49 overall), by the Utah Jazz. However, he did not end up making it into the NBA. Brigham Young University–Hawaii (BYU–Hawaii) is a private college in Laie, Hawaii, United States. It is owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). ACB League
The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administered by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the Primera FEB and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs. The competition was founded as the ACB Primera División on 1983 following the decision of clubs in the Liga Nacional, founded in 1957, to break away from the Spanish Basketball Federation and professionalize the league. The 1990–91 FIBA European Champions Cup was the 34th season of the European top-tier level professional FIBA European Champions Cup (now called EuroLeague). It was won by POP 84, after they beat FC Barcelona Banca Catalana 70–65. It was their second championship triumph over the Spanish team, and their third straight championship overall. A feat previously achieved only by Rīgas ASK, who won the first three editions of the trophy. 1988–89 ACB Season
The 1988–89 ACB season was the 6th season of the Liga ACB, after changing its name. The number of teams increased from 16 to 24. The format also changed. The 24 teams were divided into two groups of 12. After playing a league, 24 teams were divided into three groups of eight teams each. The first six of the white group and the champions of the red and blue groups played for the title. FC Barcelona won their third ACB title, and their 6th overall.
