Steve Shapiro (born 1963) is an American music producer, session musician, and jazz vibraphonist. Biography Steve Shapiro is a veteran NYC studio vibraphonist, composer, and synth programmer. He has recorded or performed with artists such as Steely Dan (''Two Against Nature''), Phil Collins, Whitney Houston, Ornette Coleman, Pat Martino, Regina Belle, Curtis Fuller, Jimmy Heath, They Might Be Giants, and Spyro Gyra. Shapiro is also an accomplished producer and arranger whose work has appeared in hundreds of television and film projects, and is a long-time producer/arranger for the Walt Disney Company and Pixar Animation Studios, with credits on an array of projects related to over forty feature film releases. He has been a pioneer of using audio and midi technology with the vibraphone since the 1980s, and has developed a unique voice inspired by contemporary electric keyboards. Patrick Bergeson (born March 11, 1961) is an American guitarist, harmonica player and occasional songwriter. Based in Nashville, he is best known for his live and session work with Chet Atkins, Lyle Lovett, Suzy Bogguss and Les Brers. Biography Bergeson was born in Batavia, Illinois, and first started playing drums and later picked up the guitar and the harmonica. He studied music at the University of Illinois in Urbana and then moved to New York City, studied Jazz at William Paterson University and worked in New York for ten years. After hearing him on a demo tape made by Robert Lee Castleman, Chet Atkins invited Bergeson to play on his record ''Sneakin' Around'' with Jerry Reed. Anthony Davis (born February 20, 1951) is an American pianist and composer. He incorporates several styles including jazz, rhythm 'n' blues, gospel, non-Western, African, European classical, Indonesian gamelan, and experimental music. He has played with several groups and is also professor of music at University of California, San Diego. Davis is perhaps best known for his operas; he has been called "the dean of African-American opera composers." His better known compositions include '' X, The Life and Times of Malcolm X'', which was premiered by the New York City Opera in 1986; ''Amistad'', which premiered with the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 1997; and ''Wakonda's Dream'', which premiered at Opera Omaha in 2007. Dave Samuels
David Alan Samuels (October 9, 1948 – April 22, 2019) was an American vibraphone and marimba player who spent many years with the contemporary jazz group Spyro Gyra. His recordings and live performances during that period also reflect his prowess on the steelpan, a tuned percussion instrument of Trinidadian origin. Biography Samuels was born in Waukegan, Illinois, United States. At the age of six he started playing drums and piano. He learned vibes and marimba while a student at Boston University. He continued his studies at the Berklee College of Music, also in Boston, and studied with vibraphonist Gary Burton. He taught percussion at Berklee before moving to New York City in 1974. Soon he was recording and performing with Gerry Mulligan, Carla Bley, and Gerry Niewood. Steve Swallow (born October 4, 1940) is an American jazz bassist and composer, known for his collaborations with Jimmy Giuffre, Gary Burton, and Carla Bley. He was one of the first jazz double bassists to switch entirely to electric bass guitar. Biography Born in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, United States, Swallow studied piano and trumpet, as a child, before turning to the double bass at age 14. While attending a prep school, he began trying his hand in jazz improvisation. In 1960, he left Yale University, where he was studying composition, and settled in New York City, playing at the time in Jimmy Giuffre's trio along with Paul Bley.
