Steve Forrest (musician)
Steve Forrest (born September 25, 1986) is an American drummer from Modesto, California, best known for his work with the British alternative rock band Placebo, which he left in 2015. Before joining Placebo, Forrest was drummer for the ambient rock band Evaline. He announced his intention to leave Evaline in January 2007, but remained with the band throughout their 2007 United States tour. During that tour, Evaline opened for Placebo, and Forrest came to be acquainted with them. In 2008 he took the vacant seat of Steve Hewitt. Unlike Placebo's previous two drummers, Forrest plays right-handed, not left. His first set with Placebo for "Live at Angkor Wat" in Cambodia, was his most memorable gig. Popspoken. Placebo ( ) are a British alternative rock band, formed in London in 1994 by vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal, and in late 1994 Robert Schultzberg joined as drummer. Molko was born in Belgium and Olsdal and Schultzberg in Sweden; Molko and Olsdal grew up in Luxembourg before separately relocating to London and becoming British citizens. Schultzberg left the band in 1996 shortly after the release of the band's Placebo (Placebo album), eponymous debut album due to conflicts with Molko, and was replaced the same year by Steve Hewitt. Following the release of a demo, a split single, and Placebo (Placebo album), their eponymous debut album, Placebo gained exposure in 1997 after the single "Nancy Boy" became popular in the UK, a song notorious at the time for its Gender bender, gender-bending content. Steve Hewitt
Steven James Hewitt (born 22 March 1971) is an English musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. He is the frontman of his own band, Love Amongst Ruin. Hewitt is best known for his tenure as the drummer for Placebo between September 1996 and October 2007. He plays drums and guitar left-handed. Personal life and influences Hewitt was born in Northwich, Cheshire, England and attended Weaverham High School. Hewitt has a daughter and had a second child in early 2010. His elder daughter Emily performed backing vocals on ''Love Song'', the final track on Love Amongst Ruin's 2010 debut album. Hewitt was inspired to become a drummer after watching Phil Taylor performing "Ace of Spades" with Motörhead on ''Top of the Pops''. ''Loud Like Love'' is the seventh studio album by British alternative rock band Placebo, recorded between 2012 and 2013 and released on 16 September 2013. The album reached number 13 in the UK Albums Chart, and received a mixed response from critics. Three singles were released from the album: " Too Many Friends", "Loud Like Love" and "A Million Little Pieces". It is the band's final album to feature the drummer Steve Forrest. ''Battle for the Sun'' is the sixth studio album by British alternative rock band Placebo. It was recorded in Canada in 2008 and released on 8 June 2009 by record label PIAS. It is their first album with new drummer Steve Forrest, following the departure of Steve Hewitt in 2007. ''Battle for the Sun'' reached number 8 in the UK Albums Chart, and received a generally favourable reaction from critics. Four singles were released from the album: " For What It's Worth", " The Never-Ending Why", " Ashtray Heart" and " Bright Lights". Production David Bottrill produced the record, after having previously worked with Tool, Muse, Silverchair, Remy Zero, and dEUS.
