Steve Finkel
Stephen Finkel (born January 23, 1953) is an American former international rugby union player and coach. Finkel was a Scioto Valley RFC product and played on the varsity team at Ohio University. A flanker, Finkel represented the United States in the inaugural edition of the Hong Kong Sevens and was capped six times for the Eagles XV during the 1980s, with two appearances at the 1987 Rugby World Cup in Australia. The 1993 Rugby World Cup Sevens was held at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, Scotland, in April 1993. This tournament was the inaugural Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament. United States Men's National Rugby Sevens Team
The United States national rugby sevens team competes in international rugby sevens competitions. The national sevens team is organized by USA Rugby, and was led by Head Coach Mike Friday from 2014-2024, when he resigned and was replaced by Simon Amor. The main competition the team plays in every year is the World Rugby Sevens Series, a series of ten tournaments played around the globe from December to June that includes the USA Sevens tournament every spring. The Eagles have been a core team in the World Series and finished in the top twelve each season since 2008–09.
