Steve DeAngelo
Steve DeAngelo (born June 12, 1958) is an American activist and advocate for cannabis reform in the United States. Career Steve DeAngelo is the co-founder and chairman emeritus of Harborside Inc., which is a publicly traded cannabis company listed on the Canadian Securities Exchange. Harborside Health Center was founded in 2006 as a non-profit medical cannabis dispensary and had more than 300,000 registered medical patients. DeAngelo is also co-founder of Steep Hill, Inc., the first commercial cannabis lab in the country, and co-founder of Arcview Group, the first cannabis investment firm. DeAngelo formerly served Arcview as vice president. Harborside was the subject of Weed Wars, a reality series which aired on the Discovery Channel. ''The Emperor Wears No Clothes'' is a non-fiction book written by Jack Herer. Starting in 1973, the story begins when Herer takes the advice of his friend, "Captain" Ed Adair, and begins compiling tidbits of information about the cannabis plant and its numerous uses, including as hemp and as a drug. After a dozen years of collecting and compiling historical data, Herer first published his work as ''The Emperor Wears No Clothes'', in 1985. Jack Herer (; June 18, 1939 – April 15, 2010), sometimes called the "Emperor of Hemp", was an American cannabis rights activist and the author of the 1985 book '' The Emperor Wears No Clothes''. Herer founded and served as the director of the organization Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP). As an activist, he advocated for the decriminalization of the cannabis plant and argued that it could be used as a renewable source of fuel, medicine, food, fiber, and paper/pulp and that it can be grown in virtually any part of the world for medicinal as well as economic purposes. William Moses Kunstler (July 7, 1919 – September 4, 1995) was an American attorney and civil rights activist, known for defending the Chicago Seven.
