Steve Clarke (drummer)
Steve Clarke (born 20 November 1959) is a British drummer. He is a former member of the rock bands Quasar (band), Quasar and Fastway (band), Fastway. Life and career Steve Clarke was born in Twickenham on 20 November 1959 to parents Eric and Sally Clarke. Clarke started playing drums aged four under tuition from his uncle, Jeff Whetstone and father Eric Clarke. Subsequently, he joined the Boys' Brigade where he developed his rudimentary and marching techniques. Aged 21, he worked as a tech for drummer Billy Cobham. He organised and played in an improvised gig at the Hamborough Tavern in Southall, with guitarists Steve Topping, Richard Chapman and bass guitarist Nick Stephens. The cassette recording of the jam was released on CD retrospectively (18 years later) in 1999 under the name Volume 33 Riot at The Hanborough Tavern. Quasar (band)
Quasar is a British progressive rock band, formed in 1979 by Keith Turner. They found themselves to be amongst a movement of British bands during the early 1980s, including Marillion, Pendragon (band), Pendragon, IQ (band), IQ, Twelfth Night (band), Twelfth Night, Solstice (progressive rock band), Solstice and Pallas (band), Pallas, that continued in the progressive rock style created by 1970s bands such as Genesis (band), Genesis and Yes (band), Yes. Though Quasar has had quiet times due to leaving members and were based in San Francisco for some years, they are now based back in the UK. Jan Hammer () (born 17 April 1948) is a Czech-American musician, composer, and record producer. He rose to prominence while playing keyboards with the Mahavishnu Orchestra during the early 1970s, as well as with his film scores for television and film including "Miami Vice Theme" and "Crockett's Theme", from the 1980s television program ''Miami Vice''. He has continued to work as both a musical performer and producer. John Gerard McAvoy (born 19 December 1951) is a Northern Irish blues rock bass guitarist. He played with blues rock musician Rory Gallagher between 1970 and 1991, and then with Nine Below Zero until 2011. Biography McAvoy was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 19 December 1951. In his youth, he enjoyed listening to his sister's collection of Buddy Holly, Beatles and Rolling Stones records. Aged 13, he bought a second-hand Muddy Waters album in a Belfast record store and later said it "changed my life". Alasdair Mackie "Algy" Ward (11 July 1959 – 17 May 2023) was an English punk rock and heavy metal bass guitarist and singer. He began his career in 1977, as a bassist for the Australian proto punk garage band the Saints. Afterwards, he joined The Damned, before founding Tank in 1980. Tank were part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement.
