Stephen Williamson
Stephen Williamson (28 June 1827 – 16 June 1903) was a founder of the Liverpool shipping company Balfour Williamson & Co. and a Scottish Liberal Party politician. He was born in Cellardyke, Fife in 1827, the son of Archibald Williamson, a shipowner. In 1848 he went to Liverpool, and there founded, with Alexander Balfour, the firm of Balfour Williamson, trading with South America with offices in Valparaíso, Chile and San Francisco. He married Anne Guthrie, the daughter of Dr Thomas Guthrie. In 1880 he was elected to the House of Commons as Member of Parliament (MP) for St Andrews, a seat he held until 1885, and then represented Kilmarnock Burghs between 1886 and 1895. Williamson had homes in Copley in Cheshire and Glenogil in Forfarshire. He died at Copley in June 1903 aged 65. John McAusland Denny
Colonel John McAusland Denny (29 November 1858 – 9 December 1922) was a Scottish businessman and Conservative Party politician. Denny was born in Helenslee, Dumbarton, one of eight sons of Dr. Peter Denny. His grandfather William Denny founded the family shipbuilding firm William Denny and Brothers. He was educated at Dumbarton Academy and in Lausanne and became a shipbuilder and a director of the Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire Railway company. He was elected at the 1895 general election as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kilmarnock Burghs. and re-elected in 1900, holding the seat until standing down at the 1906 general election. He was a founder member of the Glasgow and West of Scotland Association for Women's Suffrage. Peter Sturrock (MP)
Peter Sturrock (1820 – 7 March 1904) was a Scottish civil engineer, colliery owner and provost of Kilmarnock and a Conservative politician. Sturrock was the son of David Sturrock, of Struthers, near Kilmarnock and his wife Helen Woodbum. He was educated at Kilmarnock Academy and at Glasgow. Sturrock married Helen Hutchinson Guthrie in 1850. He was a civil engineer, a colliery owner, and a director of North British Canadian Investment Co., and Scottish Ontario Land Co. Sir Robert Anstruther, 5th Baronet (28 August 1834 – 21 July 1886) was a Scottish Liberal Party politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1864 and 1886. Life and career Anstruther was the son of Sir Ralph Anstruther, 4th Baronet and his wife Mary Jane Torrens, eldest daughter of Major-General Sir Henry Torrens, K.C.B. Anstruther was educated at Harrow School and joined the Grenadier Guards, reaching the rank of lieutenant-colonel. In 1863, on the death of his father, he succeeded to the baronetcy. He was Lord Lieutenant of Fife from 1864 to 1886 and was Deputy Lieutenant and J.P. for Caithness. Anstruther was Member of Parliament for Fife from 1864 to 1880 and for St Andrews Burghs from 1885 to 1886.
