Stephen Brodsky
Stephen Brodsky is an American rock musician, best known as a member of Cave In, Mutoid Man, New Idea Society and Old Man Gloom. He also has a solo career and is a former member of Converge (band), Converge, Kid Kilowatt, Parasite and Pet Genius. History Stephen Brodsky was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in Methuen, Massachusetts, Methuen, Massachusetts. He has cited Slash (musician), Slash as a major influence in his interest in the guitar. He played in his first band in middle school, a two-piece called Parasite that featured drummer John-Robert Conners. In early 1995, Brodsky formed the metallic hardcore band Cave In with Jay Frechette. By the time Cave In recorded their debut studio album ''Until Your Heart Stops'', Brodsky was joined by Conners, Caleb Scofield and Adam McGrath. Converge is an American metalcore band formed by vocalist and artist Jacob Bannon and guitarist and producer Kurt Ballou in Salem, Massachusetts in 1990. While recording their landmark fourth album ''Jane Doe (album), Jane Doe'' in 2001, the group became a four-piece with the departure of guitarist Aaron Dalbec and the addition of bassist Nate Newton (musician), Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller. This lineup has remained intact since. Piebald (band)
Piebald is an American rock band. Piebald started as a hardcore punk band in Andover, Massachusetts, out of the same scene that produced Converge and Cave In. Originally a key Massachusetts post-hardcore band often seen touring with fellow DIY hardcore bands such as Jesuit, Reversal of Man, and Harvest during the mid to late 1990s, they later moved to the Boston suburb of Somerville and became a staple of the Greater Boston indie rock scene. Kurt Ballou
Kurt Ballou (born February 1, 1974) is an American musician and record producer based in Massachusetts, best known as the guitarist for metalcore band Converge and for his recording and production work at his own GodCity Studio. Early and personal life Kurt Ballou started playing saxophone in elementary school. He performed in jazz band, concert band and orchestra, dabbling between baritone saxophone, bassoon and bass clarinet. Ballou was accepted to join the Hartford School of Music, but he opted to study aerospace engineering instead. His father used to have a guitar that Ballou played occasionally, but it did not interest him until a school friend gave him Slayer tapes around the age of sixteen. Nate Newton (musician)
Nate Newton (born October 9, 1975) is an American musician. He is the bassist and backing vocalist of the hardcore punk band Converge, the rock band Cave In and also the guitarist and singer in Old Man Gloom and Doomriders. Newton has also been a guitarist and vocalist in Jesuit and bassist in Cavalera Conspiracy. Career In 1998, Converge bassist Stephen Brodsky left the band and was replaced by Newton, who initially joined the band as a part-time member while he was still active in another band, Jesuit. Jesuit later disbanded in 1999, allowing Newton to make Converge his main focus. In late 2013, Newton was recruited by Cavalera Conspiracy to contribute on bass guitar for their third studio album. In 2018, Newton joined Cave In after the death of bassist/vocalist Caleb Scofield. Newton was a vegetarian for several years, before he returned to eating seafood. ''When Forever Comes Crashing'' is the third studio album by American metalcore band Converge, on April 14, 1998, through Equal Vision Records. Background and recording The album was recorded at God City Studio from 22 December through 3 January 1998. Steve Austin of Today Is the Day, along with Converge, produced the album and also provided backup vocals on the track "The Lowest Common Denominator". Jay Randall, from Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Jeff Fineburg, Ben Cummings, Matt Pike (not to be confused with Matt Pike of Sleep and High on Fire fame), Grail Mortillaro, Ryan Parker and Tre McCarthy also appear as backing vocalists. Caleb Scofield
Caleb Mark Scofield (October 6, 1978 – March 28, 2018) was an American musician who was a bassist and singer mostly known for the alternative metal band Cave In, and his own sludge metal band Zozobra. He was killed in an auto accident. Caleb was also a part of the sludge band Old Man Gloom. Music career Caleb Scofield gained an interest in heavy music through seeing local New Hampshire punk bands like Inline and The Rat, and as soon as he was able to drive, took a trip to Boston to see bigger East Coast hardcore bands like Sheer Terror and Sick of It All. He performed vocals for his first band, local New Hampshire hardcore act Strike 3.
