Stephanie Childress
Stephanie Childress (born May 1999) is a Franco-British conductor. She is the Principal Guest Conductor for the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia. Early life and education Childress was born in London to a non-musical family and began her career as a violinist. She attended the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle, the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, eventually leading the orchestra in 2015. She was a string finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 2016 and 2018. She made her solo Proms debut in the summer of 2019. In 2018, she graduated from the University of Cambridge with a bachelor's degree in music. The Konzerthausorchester Berlin is a German Orchestra, symphony orchestra based in Berlin. The orchestra is resident at the Konzerthaus Berlin, designed by the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The building was destroyed during World War II, and was rebuilt from 1979 to 1984. Stéphane Denève (born 24 November 1971) is a French conductor. He is currently music director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of the New World Symphony. Biography Denève was born in Tourcoing, France, and graduated from the Paris Conservatoire. Denève worked as conducting assistant to Sir Georg Solti with the Orchestre de Paris, Georges Prêtre at the Opéra National de Paris, and Seiji Ozawa at the Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto in 1998. Denève assumed the post of music director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) in September 2005, his first music directorship.
