''Step Lively'' is a reissue of Hats Off Step Lively, the fifth studio album by Australian blues/rock band Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons. The album was released in North America and Europe in September 1981. Background and release Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons released their fifth studio album '' Hats Off Step Lively'' in Australia in August 1980. The album peaked at number 17 on the Australian Kent Music Report. The band began touring internationally including performances in The Bottom Line club in New York, and at the Montreux Jazz & Blues Festival. Increased tensions within the group led to members Gary Young and John Power leaving the band by June 1981. The album was released in September 1981, but with the band no longer together, the album was not promoted and was a commercial failure. In 2007, band member Joe Camilleri said "We could have done it if we'd kept punching, but the band actually disintegrated, basically, looking back, because we were too tired". Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons
Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons are an Australian blues music, blues and rock music, rock band that features the singer, songwriter and saxophonist Joe Camilleri (aka "Jo Jo Zep"). The band was active in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and had several Australian chart hits including "Hit and Run (Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons song), Hit and Run", "Shape I'm In (Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons song), Shape I'm In" and "All I Wanna Do (Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons song), All I Wanna Do". The Falcons dissolved in 1981 and the group's biggest Australian hit, 1982's "Taxi Mary", as well as the New Zealand top ten hit "Walk On By (song), Walk on By", were both credited simply to "Jo Jo Zep". In 1983, Camilleri and other members of the Falcons formed the Black Sorrows. St Ives, New South Wales
St Ives is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia 18 kilometres north of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. St Ives Chase is a separate adjacent area, designated suburb, to the west and north. History The St Ives area was first explored by Governor Arthur Phillip and a party of men in 1788 where they set up a campsite at Bungaroo which is close to what is now Hunter Avenue. The area produced a small-scale timber felling industry. Brenton Wood
Alfred Jesse Smith (July 26, 1941 – January 3, 2025), known professionally as Brenton Wood, was an American singer and songwriter. Three 1967 singles of Wood's, " The Oogum Boogum Song" (peaking at No. 34 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100), " Gimme Little Sign" (reached No. 9), and "Baby You Got It" (also peaking at No. 34) were hits. Early life and education Alfred Jesse Smith was born in Shreveport in northwest Louisiana on July 26, 1941. The family moved to San Pedro in Los Angeles when Smith was a child. He attended San Pedro High School for part of his first year of high school and then moved to Compton, where he became a member of the Compton High School track team and received several awards for his athletic achievements. Pierre Tubbs (born Pierre Richard Roman Tubbs, 1942) is a British songwriter, record producer and album sleeve designer. One of his biggest successes is "Right Back Where We Started From", which he co-wrote with J. Vincent Edwards. The song was recorded by Maxine Nightingale and used in the movie ''Slap Shot''. He also co-wrote, with J.J. Jackson, " But It's Alright", which was a hit for Jackson when originally released in 1966, and also when re-released in 1969. ''Screaming Targets'' is the fourth studio album by Australian pop rock band Jo Jo Zep & the Falcons. The album was the band's first via Mushroom Records. Released in July 1979, the album peaked at number 13 on the Australian Kent Music Report, becoming the band's first top twenty album. The album was released with a limited edition bonus record featuring songs recorded live at Sentimental Bloke Hotel, Bombay Rock, Melbourne, April 1979. Gary Young (Australian Musician)
Gary Young (born 1947) is an American-born Australian musician who was a founding member of Australian rock band Daddy Cool in which he played the drums and sang backing vocals. He also played drums with Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons amongst other bands. Young was twice inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame as a member of both Daddy Cool and Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons which were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 2006 and 2007 respectively. The Montreux Jazz Festival (formerly Festival de Jazz Montreux and Festival International de Jazz Montreux) is a music festival in Switzerland, held annually in early July in Montreux on the Lake Geneva shoreline.
