Stenoria Analis
''Stenoria analis'', the ivy bee blister beetle, is a species of blister beetle from the family Meloidae which is found in western Europe and North Africa and is a specialist cleptoparasite of the ivy bee (''Colletes hederae'') larvae. Its occurrence in regions outside of the known range of the ivy bee, for example in North Africa, suggest that it has other hosts. Description ''Stenoria analis'' is a small beetle which is coloured black and buff. These beetles fly in sunny weather with a swift flight which resembles that of bees and wasps. Distribution ''Stenoria analis'' is a species ranging from southern Europe and North Africa as far north as southern Germany and the Channel island of Jersey, and as far east as Silesia in Poland in the north, and southern Russia and Anatolia in the south. Hermann Rudolph Schaum
Hermann Rudolph Schaum (29 April 1819 in Glauchau (formerly Glachau) – 15 September 1865 in Bonn) was a professor in Berlin and an entomologist. He specialised in Coleoptera. Up until 1847, he worked as a general practitioner in Stettin, afterwards traveling to England, North America and Egypt, where he accumulated an impressive collection of insects. He later served as a professor of entomology at the University of Berlin. On September 15, 1865, he died in Bonn from consequences of a stroke. The beetle species ''Diochus schaumi'' is named after him. Schaum was a Member of the Entomological Society of Stettin. Triungulin
A planidium is a specialized form of insect larva seen in the first-instar of a few families of insects that have parasitoidal ways of life. They are usually flattened, highly sclerotized (hardened), and quite mobile. The function of the planidial stage is to find a host on which the later larval instars may feed, generally until the insect pupates. Etymology The term "planidium" is derived from the Greek language ''πλανής'' (planis) meaning "wanderer". The term planula was similarly derived in reference to the wandering larvae of certain Cnidaria. Accordingly, "planidium" is the general term for such an adaptation, and it is not limited to any particular species or morphology. ''Colletes succinctus'', the common colletes or heather colletes, is a species of Palearctic mining bee from the family Colletidae. It is part of the ''succinctus'' species group within the genus '' Colletes'' and is especially closely related to the ivy bee ('' Colletes hederae'') and the sea aster mining bee ('' Colletes halophilus'') which are partially sympatric with ''C. succinctus'' but ecologically separate. Description ''Colletes succinctus'' is a medium-sized bee which has pale hairs on its clypeus and pale transverse bands on the thorax but with an orange, transparent band on the first tergite. Léon Marc Herminie Fairmaire (29 June 1820 – 1 April 1906) was a French entomologist. A specialist in Coleoptera he assembled an immense collection comparable with that of Pierre François Marie Auguste Dejean (1780-1845). This is in the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle.
