Stella Chesang
Stella Chesang (born 1 December 1996) is a long-distance runner from Uganda who competed in the Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's 5000 metres event at the 2016 Olympics. In April 2018, she won the gold medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, held in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Background and education Chesang as born on 1 December 1996 in Serere Village, Benet sub-county, Kween District, in the Eastern Region of Uganda, to Juliet Cheptoris and Patrick Kusuro. She is the second born in a family of nine siblings. She attended Benet Primary School before she transferred to Chemwania High School in Kween for her O-Level studies. Kween District
Kween District is a district in Eastern Uganda. The district headquarters are located at Binyiny, one of the two town councils in the district. Uganda Police Force
The Uganda Police Force is the national police force of Uganda. The head of the force is called the Inspector General of Police (IGP). The current IGP is Martin Okoth Ochola. Ochola replaced former IGP, General Kale Kayihura in March 2018. Recruitment to the forces is done annually. History The Uganda Police Force was established in 1906 by the British administration. At that time, it was referred to as the Uganda Armed Constabulary with the primary responsibility of quelling "riots and unrest." On 25 May 1906, then Captain (later Brigadier General) William F.S Edwards, DSO, arrived in Uganda and became the first Inspector General of the Uganda Protectorate Police. Moses Kipsiro
Moses Ndiema Kipsiro (born 2 September 1986 in Singare) is a Ugandan long-distance runner who specialises in the 5000 metres. He was the bronze medallist in the event at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics. He represented Uganda at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, coming fourth over 5000 m. Kipsiro has won medals in the 5000 m at the African Championships in Athletics and the All-Africa Games. He completed a 5000/10,000 metres double at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. He is a four-time Ugandan cross country champion having won every race from 2008 to 2011. Joshua Cheptegei
Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei (born 12 September 1996) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. He is the reigning Olympic champion in the 5000 metres and silver medalist for the 10,000 metres, a two-time 10,000 m World champion from 2019 and 2022, World silver medallist from 2017, and the 2019 World Cross Country champion. Cheptegei won also gold medals for the 5000 m and 10,000 m at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He currently holds world records in both disciplines, and holds world best in the 15 kilometres road race. Stacy Ndiwa
Stacey Chepkemboi Ndiwa (born 6 December 1992) is a Kenyan female long-distance runner who competes across cross country, track and road running disciplines. She was a gold medallist at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games in the 1500 metres and was a team silver medallist at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2015, where she was fifth individually. She was also a bronze medallist in the 1500 m at the 2011 African Junior Athletics Championships. Ndiwa competed for the Kenya Police team, and won the team championships in the 5000 metres in 2013 and the cross country championship in 2015. She won the Tuskys Wareng Cross Country in 2012. Juliet Chekwel (born 25 May 1990) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. She competed in the 10,000 metres at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing placing 17th in a new national record of 32:20.95. She competed in the 5000 m and 10,000 m events at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2019, she competed in the senior women's race at the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships held in Aarhus, Denmark. She finished in 13th place. Betws-y-coed (; '' en, prayer house in the wood'') is a village and community in the Conwy valley in Conwy County Borough, Wales, located in the historic county of Caernarfonshire, right on the boundary with Denbighshire, in the Gwydir Forest. 2015 African Junior Athletics Championships
The 2015 African Junior Athletics Championships was the twelfth edition of the biennial, continental athletics tournament for African athletes aged 19 years or younger. It was held at the Addis Ababa Stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 5–8 March. It was the first time that Ethiopia hosted the event and followed on from the 2008 African Championships in Athletics, which was hosted at the same venue. As part of the preparations for the event, the Ethiopian government paid five million Ethiopian birr (around US$250,000) to renovate the host stadium's athletics facilities. Athletics At The 2018 Commonwealth Games
Athletics was one of ten core sports that appeared at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. As a founding sport, athletics has appeared consistently since its introduction at the 1911 Inter-Empire Games; the recognized precursor to the Commonwealth Games. The competition took place between Sunday 8–15 April 2018 at the Carrara Stadium.
