Stella (SV)
Stella ( lij, A Steja - literally, the star) is a ''comune'' of the Province of Savona in the Italian region Liguria. The municipality has a population of 3,006 (as of 1 January 2018) and extends over an area of . It borders the comuni of Albisola Superiore, Celle Ligure, Pontinvrea, Sassello and Varazze. ''Frazioni'' The commune is divided into five distinct localities, or ''frazioni'', known locally as the ''cinque stelle'', or ‘five stars’.As of 3 July 2008 this section was a summary of tella (SV)#Frazioni its counterparton the Italian Wikipedia. Stella San Giovanni, some ten minutes by car from the sea and adjacent to Albisola, is the site of the town hall. Varazze
Varazze (; lij, Väze) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Savona in the Italian region of Liguria, located about west of Genoa and about northeast of Savona in the Riviera di Ponente. Nearby in the Ligurian Apennines is the Monte Beigua with its Natural Regional Park. Economy is predominantly based on the shipyards, yachting and tourism. History The burgh grew around the former Roman station named ''Ad Navalia''. In the Middle Ages, Varazze was disputed between Savona and Genoa, due to its notable ships production. In 1227, it became an independent commune but, after a short seigniory of the Malocello, it was sold to the Republic of Genoa in 1290. In 1525, Hugo of Moncada, admiral of emperor Charles V, was defeated here in a naval battle and taken prisoner. Varazze followed the history of Genoa until it was captured by French troops in 1798. Sezzadio
Sezzadio is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region Piedmont, located about southeast of Turin and about south of Alessandria. Sezzadio borders the following municipalities: Carpeneto, Cassine, Castelnuovo Bormida, Castelspina, Gamalero, Montaldo Bormida, Predosa, and Rivalta Bormida. It is the location of the Abbey of Santa Giustina, founded in 722 by the Lombard king Liutprand. In 1033 the abbey was enlarged by the marquis of Sezzadio, Oberto, remaining under the Benedictines until 1474. The church has a large cotto façade divided by pilasters and crowned by Lombard bands. The interior has a nave and two aisles ending with apses. In the apses are frescoes from the 14th and 15th centuries, while the crypt has an 11th-century mosaic pavement. Sandro Pertini Alessandro "Sandro" Pertini (; 25 September 1896 – 24 February 1990) was an Italian socialist politician who served as the president of Italy from 1978 to 1985. Early life Born in Stella ( Province of Savona) as the son of a wealthy landowner, Alberto, he studied at a Salesian college in Varazze, and completed his schooling at the "''Chiabrera''" lyceum (high school) in Savona. His philosophy teacher was Adelchi Baratono, a reformist socialist who contributed to his approach to socialism and probably introduced him to the inner circles of the Ligurian labour movements. Pertini obtained a law degree from the University of Genoa. Aged 19 when Italy entered World War I on the side of the Triple Entente, Pertini opposed the war, but nonetheless enlisted in the army where he served as a lieutenant and was decorated for bravery.
