Stefano Tatai
Stefano Tatai (23 May 1938 in Rome – 29 May 2017 in Tenerife) was an Italian chess master. He was of Hungarian descent. He was awarded the Italian national master title in 1958, and the International Master title in 1966. He was twelve times Italian champion, in 1962, 1965, 1967, 1970, 1974, 1977, 1979, 1983, 1985, 1990, 1991 and 1994. International Master
FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE (''Fédération Internationale des Échecs'') for outstanding performance. The highest such title is Grandmaster (chess), Grandmaster (GM). Italian Chess Championship
The Italian Chess Federation (Italian: Federazione Scacchistica Italiana (FSI)) was established in 1920. The first Italian Chess Championship took place at Viareggio 1921. The 1998 Championship was held 21–29 November in Saint-Vincent. The ten-player field had an average Elo rating of 2390.
