Stefano Mezzadri
Stefano Mezzadri (born 26 May 1967) is a Swiss former professional tennis player. Mezzadri appeared in his only Grand Prix circuit singles main draw at Geneva in 1987, with the tournament won by his older brother Claudio, a Davis Cup representative for Switzerland. As a doubles player he was a semi-finalist at Geneva in 1990 and won one ATP Challenger title. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The Grand Prix tennis circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players that existed from 1970 to 1989. The Grand Prix and World Championship Tennis (WCT) were the two predecessors to the current tour for male players, the ATP Tour, with the Grand Prix being more prominent. Background Before the Open Era, popular professional tennis players, such as Suzanne Lenglen and Vincent Richards, were contracted to professional promoters. Amateur players were under the jurisdiction of their national (and international) federations. Claudio Mezzadri (born 10 June 1965) is a retired professional tennis player from Switzerland. Mezzadri turned professional in 1983, and won his only ATP singles title four years later in Geneva. He also won four doubles titles in his career. His highest ranking was world No. 26 in singles in November 1987 and No. 23 in doubles in February 1988. Nevio Devide (born 2 December 1966) is an Italian manager and a former professional tennis player from Italy. Mihnea-Ion Năstase (born 7 February 1967) is a former professional tennis player from Romania. He is a nephew of two-time Grand Slam winner Ilie Năstase and his father, Constantin Năstase, was a Romanian Davis Cup representative. Career Năstase was born in Bucharest but grew up in Italy and went to college in the United States, where he played tennis for Mississippi State University. Partnering Leonardo Lavalle, Năstase was a winner in the boys' doubles event at the 1984 US Open.
