Stefano Gross
Stefano "Sabo" Gross (born 4 September 1986) is a World Cup alpine ski racer from northern Italy. Born in Bozen, South Tyrol, Gross was raised in Pozza di Fassa in Trentino; he races in the technical events and specializes in the slalom. Career Gross made his World Cup debut at Alta Badia in December 2008, and his best results are three podiums in slalom in 2015, including a victory in Adelboden. Gross has represented Italy at seven World Championships and finished tenth in the slalom in 2017. He was fourth in the slalom at the 2014 Winter Olympics. 2017 Winter Military World Games
The 3rd CISM World Winter Games () were held in Sochi, Russia from 23 to 27 February 2017. Host selection and venues Sochi was chosen as the host city for the 3rd Winter Military Games at the 70th general assembly of the International Military Sports Council in Kuwait City, Kuwait in 2015. The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2017 were the 44th FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and were held from 6 to 19 February 2017 at Piz Nair in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The host city was selected at the FIS Congress in South Korea, on 31 May 2012. The other finalists were Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, and Åre, Sweden. FIS Alpine World Ski Championships
The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships is an alpine skiing competition organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS). History The inaugural world championships in alpine skiing were held in 1931. It consisted of Downhill (ski competition), downhill and Slalom skiing, slalom events for men and women. Next year the Alpine skiing combined, combined event was added to the program as a "paper" race which used the results of the downhill and slalom. During the 1930s, the event was held annually in Europe, until interrupted by the outbreak of World War II, preventing a 1940 event. An event was held in 1941, but included competitors only from nations from the Axis powers or nations not at war with them. The results were later cancelled by the FIS in 1946 because of the limited number of participants, so they are not considered official. Alta Badia is a ski resort in the Dolomites of northern Italy, in the upper part of the Val Badia () in South Tyrol. It is part of the Dolomiti Superski ski area. It is included in the territories of the municipalities of Corvara, Badia, and La Val.
