Stefania Proietti (born 5 January 1975) is an Italian academic, engineer, and politician. She is the President of Umbria having won the 2024 regional election as a centre-left candidate. She has served as president of the province of Perugia since 2021, and as mayor of Assisi since 2016. List Of Presidents Of Umbria
There have been ten presidents of Umbria since its proclamation in 1970. As established by the art. 114, second paragraph of the text, the region of Umbria was established, and the first regional elections took place on 7 June 1970. Until 1993 the presidents were elected by the regional council and following the 1995 reform, the election of the president of the region is by universal and direct suffrage. Since 2000, all directly elected presidents of Umbria have been women. Umbria has the largest number of mandates won by female presidents out of any region of Italy, with six mandates won by four separate women. The youngest president at the time of the elections was Pietro Conti, who took office at the age of 41; the oldest was Maria Rita Lorenzetti, who finished her term at the age of 57. 2024 Umbrian Regional Election
The 2024 Umbrian regional election took place on 17 and 18 November 2024. Electoral system The candidate who obtains a plurality of votes on a regional level is elected President of Umbria and the winning coalition receives 60% of the seats in the Legislative Assembly, i.e. 12 seats, excluding the seat reserved to the president. All other candidates for president who have not been elected but are linked to lists or coalitions that have elected at least one councillor are automatically elected to the Legislative Assembly. Marco Minniti (; born 6 June 1956) is an Italian politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he served in the government of Italy as Minister of the Interior from 12 December 2016 to 1 June 2018.
