Kumanovo ( mk, Куманово ; also known by other alternative names) is a city in North Macedonia and the seat of Kumanovo Municipality, the largest municipality in the country. Kumanovo lies above sea level and is surrounded by the Karadag part of Skopska Crna Gora mountain on its western side, Gradištanska mountain on its southern side, and Mangovica and German mountain on the Eastern side. Skopje airport also serves Kumanovo. It has many historical sites. One of the most important sites is the 4,000-year-old megalithic astronomical observatory of Kokino, located northeast of Kumanovo and discovered in 2001. RK Metalurg Skopje ( mk, РК Металург Скопје) is a Macedonian handball club based in Skopje. They compete in the domestic Macedonian Handball Super League and EHF European League. History The club was founded in 1971 under patronage of the Skopje steel industry. There, an idea was born to form a team composed of employees that worked in the nearby steel mill. Nikola Bogdanovski accepted the idea after it was reviewed by the board of directors. Thus, RK Metalurg was created. The same concept realized by Bogdanovski continues to live today. At the time, the club didn't even think of playing in any of the European competitions, because they played their best not to be relegated from the first league. RK Tineks Prolet (HC Tineks Prolet) ( mk, РК Тинекс Пролет) is a team handball club from Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia. Currently, they compete in the Macedonian Handball Super League. The added name Tineks name comes from the Tinex supermarket which supports the team, while their original name Prolet is after the Skopje settlement of Prolet. The club's main rival was RK Jug, now a defunct club who was from the neighboring settlement of Muchurin. The team used to play in an open arena located in the settlement of Prolet, but after its dissolution changed few handball arenas around Skopje as Avtokomanda in the same called settlement and Rasadnik in Kisela Voda. The Macedonian national handball team is the national handball team of North Macedonia. The team is run by the Macedonian Handball Federation, the governing body of handball in North Macedonia. Prior to joining the International Handball Federation in 1991 as an independent country, North Macedonia was represented within the Yugoslavia men's national handball team.
