Wickham Steed
Henry Wickham Steed (10 October 1871 – 13 January 1956) was an English journalist and historian. He was editor of '' The Times'' from 1919 to 1922. Early life Born in Long Melford, England, Steed was educated at Sudbury Grammar School and the universities of Jena, Berlin and Paris. While in Europe, he demonstrated an early interest in social democracy and met with a range of left-wing figures, including Friedrich Engels, Wilhelm Liebknecht, August Bebel, and Alexandre Millerand. His encounters formed the basis of his first book, ''The Socialist and Labour Movement in England, Germany & France'' (1894). Tom Steed
Thomas Jefferson Steed (March 2, 1904 – June 8, 1983) was an American politician and a U.S. Congressman from Oklahoma. Early life Steed was born on a farm near in Eastland County, Texas (near Rising Star, Texas) on March 2, 1904. His family later moved to Oklahoma, where he attended school (in Konawa, Oklahoma). After only one semester of high school, he began working for the "Ada Evening News". He married Hazel Bennett in 1923, and they had two children, Roger and Richard. Roger was a Marine second lieutenant and fighter pilot and was killed in China in 1947. Career Continuing to work in journalism, Steed worked for a number of Oklahoma newspapers including the "Daily Oklahoman". Steed Claude Malbranque (born 6 January 1980) is a French former professional footballer. Malbranque started his professional career with Olympique Lyonnais, before moving to England in 2001, where he had spells with Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland. He returned to France in 2011 for a short spell with Saint-Étienne. In 2012, he joined Lyon for the second time. He principally played as a winger or attacking midfielder. Michael Steed is a British psephologist, political scientist, broadcaster, activist and Liberal Democrat politician. He was born in 1940 in Kent, where his father was a farmer. He has written extensively on political parties and elections. Education and early life He was educated at St. Lawrence College, Ramsgate, and at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. In 1960, the South African authorities refused him entry to Sharpeville to deliver food aid to victims of the Sharpeville shootings. From 1963 to 1965, Steed undertook postgraduate research at Nuffield College, Oxford, under Dr. David Butler. Paul Howard Steed Jr. (November 6, 1964 – August 11, 2012) was a video game modeller and artist. He worked for Origin Systems, Electronic Arts, id Software, Wild Tangent, Microsoft's Xbox, Atari, and Exigent. He created artwork or models for several prominent game series including ''Wing Commander'' and '' Quake''. He was employed by id Software until he was fired in retaliation for conflict over the creation of ''Doom 3'' (according to John Carmack). Early life Steed was born in 1987 in Suffolk, England, where he grew up in the countryside. He describes his East Anglian upbringing as a major influence on his humor. Steed Records
Steed Records was a record label founded by songwriter-record producer Jeff Barry in 1967 in New York City. The label was active until 1971. It was first distributed by Dot Records, then by Gulf+Western's Famous Music Group after it absorbed Dot. Steed's main artist was singer-songwriter Andy Kim, whose biggest hit for the label was " Baby, I Love You" (co-written and produced by Barry) in 1969. Other artists on the label included Robin McNamara ("Lay a Little Lovin' On Me") and The Illusion ("Did You See Her Eyes").
