''Steam'' is the second studio album by English boy band East 17. It was released in the UK on 17 October 1994 by London Records. The album was certified 2× Platinum in the UK. The album spawned four UK top-10 hits, " Around the World" (No. 3), "Steam" (No. 7), " Let It Rain" (No. 10) and the UK Christmas No. 1, "Stay Another Day". The US version of the album added the three UK top-10 singles from their first album (" House of Love", "Deep" and " It's Alright"). Critical reception AllMusic editor Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote, "East 17's ''Steam'' is arguably their most consistent album, featuring a non-stop attack of catchy, incessant dance/pop with strong, melodic pop hooks." Alan Jones from ''Music Week'' gave the album full score of five out of five and named it Pick of the Week, adding, "Short and taut, a 10-track delight of finely-honed pop and dance numbers. European Top 100 Albums
The European Top 100 Albums chart was the European adaptation of the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart. It ran from March 1984 until December 2010. Also commonly referred to as Eurochart Top 100 Albums, the chart showcased the sales of an act in 19 European countries based on IFPI data. It was compiled by ''Music & Media''. ''Billboard'' became ''Music & Media's'' financial partner in 1985 and later owned the magazine. When ''Music & Media'' closed in August 2003, ''Billboard'' continued to compile the European Top 100 Albums. The European Top 100 combined album sales (both retail and digital) of new and older albums. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created in 1995 on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Phil Harding (producer)
Philip James Harding (born 1957) is an English Record producer, music producer, Audio engineering, audio engineer, remixer, academic and author. Harding started in the music industry aged 16 at London's Marquee Studios in 1973, where he got to work as an assistant engineer under the guidance of top producers on albums for artists such as Elton John, Kiki Dee and Barry Blue. As Harding's career progressed, a long list of credits began to accumulate, with artists as diverse as The Clash, Killing Joke, Toyah Willcox, Amii Stewart and Matt Bianco, all taking advantage of Harding's fast-growing reputation as a top engineer. Anthony Michael Mortimer (born 21 October 1970) is a British singer, songwriter and record producer from London. He is a former member of the boy band East 17, who were originally active from 1991 to 1997 and sold over 20 million records worldwide. Mortimer wrote most of the band's songs, including their only number-one single, "Stay Another Day". Career Mortimer was a member of the 1990s boy band East 17, and was the band's primary songwriter. With East 17, he had seven top-ten singles and four hit albums on the UK singles chart and UK Albums Chart, respectively, between 1992 and 1997. He turned to songwriting when the group disbanded in 1997, due to negative media coverage after fellow member Brian Harvey said that he had taken twelve ecstasy tablets in one night.
