SteR KCVO
Ster (Stichting Ether Reclame, English: 'Foundation for Ether Advertisement') is a Dutch organisation responsible for the broadcast of radio and television ads on the media outlets of NPO. With the income from these, parts of the costs of public broadcasting are paid for. STER was founded in 1965 as the ''Stichting tot Uitzenden van Reclame'' ("Foundation for the Broadcasting of Advertisements"); the name was changed to the present name that same year. STER is most famous for Loeki de Leeuw, an animated puppet which appeared at the beginning and ending of all of STER's commercials from 1972 until 2004, and again in 2019 and from 2021 onwards. Content and timing STER may not use more than 10% of the airtime per year on advertisement and daily not more than 15% and also not air ads within programs (as happens on the Dutch commercial stations). NPO Soul & Jazz
NPO Soul & Jazz is a digital radio station from Netherlands Public Broadcasting (NPO). It launched as Radio 6 on 4 September 2006, when it took over from the Concertzender (now operating independently), its musical format is mainly soul and jazz, together with such related genres as funk, rhythm and blues, and world music. At night it also broadcasts a number of cultural and informative programmes produced by the following broadcasting associations: KRO-NCRV, MAX, NTR and VPRO. TV Noordzee was a pirate television station broadcasting out of the controversial REM Island. The station challenged the Dutch TV monopoly of the time, with the airing of commercials and foreign imports (mainly British and American). Its popularity led to the government raiding its facilities, dismantling the island and reintegrating most of the assets to the public sector, continuing its operations as TROS. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the self-regulatory organisation of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom. The ASA is a non-statutory organisation and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation. However, its code of advertising practice broadly reflects legislation in many instances. The ASA is not funded by the British government, but by a levy on the advertising industry. Loeki De Leeuw
Loeki de Leeuw (''Loeki the Lion'', also incorrectly spelled as Loekie de Leeuw) is a Dutch stop-motion TV animation, broadcast on Dutch public television between 1972 and 2004, with revivals in 2019 and again since 2021. It features a puppet lion in short sketches usually not longer than five seconds, which appeared as bumpers between commercial breaks. These animated shorts reached iconic status in the Netherlands, but were also broadcast in other countries including France, the United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, Japan and the United States. Concept Loeki is a lion who usually encounters an absurd situation or does something clumsy in his films. Each short lasted only five seconds and was done almost entirely without dialogue, except for Loeki's catchphrase: " Asjemenou?"
