Stay Tooned! (TV Programme)
''Stay Tooned!'' is a British television programme which aired on BBC from 17 March 1990 to 11 May 1996. The programme is presented by Tony Robinson, in which he discusses in detail and explains in depth cartoon characters, and the people and studios behind the cartoons, as well as looks over the history of cartoons. Unlike '' Rolf Harris Cartoon Time'', in which he performed as filler between the cartoons, Tony Robinson tried to provide greater detail about the particular topic on which he would focus each week. This meant that the range of depth of the series went beyond run of the mill classics, and on occasion featured more obscure cartoons including Betty Boop, ''Animal Farm'', and those made by independent producers. Censored toons For one of the episodes, they looked at censored cartoons from over the years and included broadcast of ''Tin Pan Alley Cats'' and ''Angel Puss''. Episodes Over the course of each year, episodes would broadcast when appropriate slots were av ...

Betty Boop
Betty Boop is an animation, animated cartoon character (arts), character created by Max Fleischer, with help from animators including Grim Natwick.Pointer (2017) She originally appeared in the ''Talkartoon'' and ''Betty Boop'' film series, which were produced by Fleischer Studios and released by Paramount Pictures. She was featured in List of Betty Boop films and appearances, 90 theatrical cartoons between 1930 and 1939. She has also been featured in comic strips and mass merchandising. A caricature of a Jazz Age flapper, Betty Boop was described in a 1934 court case as "combin[ing] in appearance the childish with the sophisticated—a large round baby face with big eyes and a nose like a button, framed in a somewhat careful coiffure, with a very small body of which perhaps the leading characteristic is the most self-confident little bust imaginable". Although she was toned down in the mid-1930s as a result of the Hays Code to appear more demure, she became one of the world's ...

Animal Farm (1954 Film)
''Animal Farm'' is a 1954 animated film directed by animators John Halas and Joy Batchelor. It was produced by Halas and Batchelor and funded in part by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), who also made changes to the original movie script. It was based on the 1945 novel of the same name by George Orwell. Although the film was a financial failure and took 15 years to generate a profit, it quickly became a staple in classrooms across the United Kingdom, the United States and other English-speaking countries like Australia, Canada, and New Zealand into the 1980s. The film rights for a film adaptation of ''Animal Farm'' were bought from Orwell's widow after she was approached by agents working for the Office of Policy Coordination (OPC), a branch of the CIA that dealt with the use of culture to combat communism. Maurice Denham provided the voice for all the animals in the film. Plot Manor Farm is mismanaged by its drunken owner, Mr. Jones. Prize pig Old Major enc ...

Tin Pan Alley Cats
''Tin Pan Alley Cats'' is a 1943 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' directed by Bob Clampett. A follow-up to Clampett's successful '' Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs'', released earlier in 1943, ''Tin Pan Alley Cats'' focuses upon contemporary themes of African-American culture, jazz music, and World War II, and features a caricature of jazz musician Fats Waller as an anthropomorphic cat. The short's centerpiece is a fantasy sequence derived from Clampett's black and white ''Looney Tunes'' short '' Porky in Wackyland'' (1938). Like ''Coal Black'', ''Tin Pan Alley Cats'' focuses heavily on stereotypical gags, character designs, and situations involving African-Americans. As such, the film and other Warner Bros. cartoons with similar themes have been withheld from television distribution since 1968, and are collectively known as the Censored Eleven. Plot The cartoon opens with a cat who resembles a Fats Waller caricature going out for a night on the town. He is about to go into a ...

BBC Two
BBC Two is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network owned and operated by the BBC. It covers a wide range of subject matter, with a remit "to broadcast programmes of depth and substance" in contrast to the more mainstream and popular BBC One. Like the BBC's other domestic TV and radio channels, it is funded by the television licence, and is therefore free of commercial advertising. It is a comparatively well-funded public-service network, regularly attaining a much higher audience share than most public-service networks worldwide. Originally styled BBC2, it was the third British television station to be launched (starting on 21 April 1964), and from 1 July 1967, Europe's first television channel to broadcast regularly in colour. It was envisaged as a home for less mainstream and more ambitious programming, and while this tendency has continued to date, most special-interest programmes of a kind previously broadcast on BBC Two, for example the BBC Proms, ...
