Chariton is the CEO of ''Status Coup'', a progressive media outlet that features investigative and on-the-ground reporting on politics, corruption, the working class, social justice, and the environment. Chariton's reporting has been published in The Guardian, VICE News, The Intercept, Detroit Metro Times, The Hill, Mediaite, and CNBC.com. Standing Rock Indian Reservation
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of North & South Dakota controls the Standing Rock Reservation (), which straddles the border between North and South Dakota in the United States, and is inhabited by ethnic "Hunkpapa and Sihasapa bands of Lakota Oyate and the Ihunktuwona and Pabaksa bands of the Dakota Oyate," as well as the Hunkpatina Dakota (Lower Yanktonai).
