Station Road, Cambridge
Station Road is a road in southeast Cambridge, England.Station Area Conservation Appraisal', Quality Built Environments (QuBE), prepared for Cambridge City Council. June 2004. It leads from a junction with traffic lights on Hills Road ( A1307) to the Cambridge railway station. At the western end of Station Road on the opposite side of Hills Road is the Cambridge University Botanic Garden. Buildings The station and a war memorial at the two ends of the road are Grade II listed. The view along Station Road has a leafy appearance. There are a number of Victorian houses on the north side of the road. These have lost their gardens and been converted for commercial use. The south side of the road is main large modern buildings. For example, ''Jupiter House'' was built in 1974. It was reclad in the 1980s. ''Daedalus House'' is also located on the south side. Station Road, Newbridge
Station Road is a football ground and training complex located in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. It is home to Leinster Senior League outfit Newbridge Town F.C. It was also the home of now defunct Eircom League Division One side Kildare County F.C. The ground was bought in the early 1980s by Newbridge Town F.C. The ground itself is located beside Newbridge railway station and hence was named Station Road. Station Road, Swinton
Station Road was a stadium in Pendlebury, near Manchester, England. It was the home of Swinton Rugby League Club between 1929 and 1992 and was widely recognised as one of the finest grounds in the Rugby League. Swinton moved to Station Road when they were at their peak, having won all four major trophies ("All Four Cups") the previous season, one of only three clubs (the others being Hunslet and Huddersfield) ever to do so. The decision to purchase the land, which stood alongside the railway line and Swinton railway station, was made after a breakdown in negotiations with their existing landlord at their Chorley Road ground, their home since 1887. Station Road is a street in the city centre of York, in England. History The street lies immediately outside York city walls, leading to the south bank of the River Ouse, Yorkshire, River Ouse. The area is likely to have seen some Roman and Anglian settlement, but later became partly a cemetery, with fields further out. In 1832, the city's cholera burial ground was established by the road. The street originated as part of Thief Lane, but following the construction of the new York railway station in 1877, the street was re-rerouted, and its southern part became Station Road. Layout and architecture The street runs north-east as a continuation of Queen Street, forming part of the city's inner ring road.
