Horasan
Horasan (), is a municipality and district of Erzurum Province, Turkey. Its area is 1,740 km2, and its population is 36,519 (2022). The mayor is Hayrettin Özdemir ( AKP). Horasan is located in the east of Erzurum Province, and borders the provinces of Ağrı and Kars. Etymology Horasan is also one of the spellings of the Khorasan (or Greater Khorasan), which is a region in north east Iran with historical importance, and it is also the source of the name of the town as the first settlers of the town migrated from this region. The Azerbaijan–Turkey border (, ) is a long international border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey. The border is located at the southeastern tip of the Iğdır Province on the Turkish side and at the northwestern tip of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on the Azerbaijani side; running entirely along the Aras river, it is the shortest border for both countries. The State Highways of the Republic of Turkey () are an integrated network of highways and roads in Turkey, consisting of a numbered grid spanning across the country.
