State Highway 28 (abbreviated SH-28) is a state highway in Oklahoma. It runs in an irregular west-to-east pattern through Nowata, Rogers, Mayes and Delaware counties. There is one letter-suffixed spur highway branching from SH-28, SH-28A. Route description SH-28 begins at US-169 just south of Delaware. From there it travels east-to-south, passing the community of Childers, to a junction with US-60. Crossing US-60, SH-28 runs due south to New Alluwe, then south and east to Chelsea, where it intersects SH-66. From Chelsea, it is straight south to the junction with SH-28A, where SH-28 turns due east, intersects with I-44 after , and farther crosses US-69 at Adair. Upon leaving Adair, SH-28 runs mainly east, to Pensacola, then follows the arc of the Neosho River to the SH-82 junction outside of Langley. Interstate 44 (I-44) is an Interstate Highway that runs diagonally through the U.S. state of Oklahoma, spanning from the Texas state line near Wichita Falls, Texas, to the Missouri border near Joplin, Missouri. It connects three of Oklahoma's largest cities: Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Lawton. Most of I-44 in Oklahoma is a toll road. In southwestern Oklahoma, I-44 is the H. E. State Highway 20 (abbreviated SH-20) is a highway in northeastern Oklahoma. Its eastern terminus is at the Missouri state line; its western terminus is at SH-18 near Ralston. The highway runs a total length of . It has no lettered spur routes. Route description SH-20 begins just north of the Arkansas River at SH-18 near Ralston. From there, it heads east through Osage County for 20 miles (32 km) without crossing any other highway. At mile 20.4, it meets State Highway 99 in Hominy. East of Hominy, SH-20 crosses Lake Skiatook before passing through Skiatook and entering Tulsa County. Shortly after entering Tulsa County, SH-20 has a junction with SH-11. Disney is a town in Mayes County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 222 at the 2020 census, down from 311 in 2010. The town is named for former Oklahoma U.S. Congressman Wesley E. Disney and has no affiliation with The Walt Disney Company or Walt Disney. Geography Disney is in the northeastern corner of Mayes County, on the south shore of the Grand Lake o' the Cherokees, a reservoir on the Neosho River. The town is also known as "Disney Island" because it sits between the east end of the Pensacola Dam, the main dam which forms the lake, and two smaller dams on the lake to the east. The northern part of Disney is lake-front, while the southern part is roughly bounded by Summerfield Creek, fed by the spillways from the two eastern dams. Pensacola Dam
The Pensacola Dam, also known as the Grand River Dam, is a multiple-arch buttress dam located between the towns of Disney and Langley on the Grand River in Mayes County, Oklahoma. The dam is operated by the Grand River Dam Authority and creates Grand Lake o' the Cherokees. After decades of vision and planning, it was constructed between 1938 and 1940 for the purposes of hydroelectric power generation, flood control and recreation. It is Oklahoma's first hydroelectric power plant and is referred to as the longest multiple-arch dam in the world. Langley, Oklahoma
Langley is a town in Mayes and Craig counties, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 606 at the 2020 census, down from 819 in 2010. History Langley, still located at its original site, is on State Highway 82 at the west end of the Pensacola Dam, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The dam holds back the Grand Lake o' the Cherokees (also known simply as Grand Lake). Dam construction started in 1935. Cliff Bogle, the original owner in the area, divided his land into lots, and in 1937 the town was established with a public dedication and drawing for free lots. The town was named for Oklahoma State Senator J. Howard Langley. Langley incorporated on November 20, 1939, and a post office was established on January 20, 1939. The dam was completed in 1941, and the town began to promote itself to the recreation industry.
