Vijayanagara district is a district in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, located in the Kalyana-Karnataka region. Vijayanagara was officially carved out of Ballari on 17 November 2021 to become the 31st district of the state with Hospet as the district headquarters. Davanagere district is an administrative district of Karnataka state in India. It is the centre of Karnataka. The city of Davanagere is the district headquarters. Hospet (officially Hosapete) is the largest and fastest-growing industrial city and district headquarters of the Vijayanagara district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Hospet is known as "the steel city of Karnataka". It is located on the bank of the Tungabhadra River and is from Hampi (Vijayanagar). Hampi was once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire.
