State Football Leagues In India
State football leagues in India represents premier-state (Association football, football), overall 5th-10th men's and 3rd women's tier of the Indian football league system. There are currently a total of 36 list of Indian state football associations, state associations affiliated with the national governing body, the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Most of the state associations organise and have own affiliated football competitions in their respective states. The state leagues operate as a system of promotion and relegation with I-League 3 (men's), Indian Women's League 2 (women's), and lower regional leagues. Clubs of top national leagues (Indian Super League and I-League) also participate in their respective state leagues, most often with youth or reserve teams. Asian Football Confederation
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in most countries and territories in Asia. The AFC was formed in 1954. It has 47 members. The Asian Ladies Football Confederation (ALFC) was the section of AFC that managed women's association football in Asia. The group was independently founded in April 1968 in a meeting involving Taiwan, British Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. In 1986, ALFC merged with AFC. Delhi Football League
The Delhi Football League is a ladder-based football competition in the Indian union territory of Delhi, organised by Football Delhi (FD) as part of the state leagues. Delhi Premier League is the top division, started in 1948 as DSA Senior Division. History The first parent body of Delhi football was formed in 1926, with professor Mohammed Zubair Qureishi as secretary. There was no proper local league but the clubs used to participate in private tournaments organised by sport enthusiasts. Due to the violence and upheaval caused by the Partition of India, the Delhi League was suspended after 1946. It resumed in 1948 and the oldest club in the capital Young Men has won it that year. The Calcutta Football League (CFL) is a ladder-based football competition in the Indian state of West Bengal, organised by the Indian Football Association (WB) as part of the state leagues. It is the oldest football league in Asia. The Sikkim Women's Super League is the top division of women's football league in the Indian state of Sikkim. The league is organised by the Sikkim Football Association (SFA), the official football governing body of the state. The inaugural season was held in 2023 and was won by SSA Soreng. Format The league features six teams, namely Young Girls FC, Pakyong United FC, Northerners Girls FC, Soreng Girls Academy, Dentam Girls Academy and Southerners Girls. The league offers women players the opportunity to excel and gain recognition. Teams are allowed a maximum of 25 players, including five players from outside the state. The Odisha Women's League (OWL), also known as the FAO Women's League, is the women's top division association football, football league of Odisha, India. The league is among the existing top tier women's football leagues in India.
