State Anthem Of The Republic Of Tatarstan
The State Anthem of the Republic of Tatarstan was composed by Tatar musician Röstäm Yaxin and was first adopted in 1993 without lyrics. 20 years later, lyrics written by were made official. Lyrics Current version On 21 February 2013, the Parliament of Tatarstan unanimously approved lyrics written by Baytimerov. The final lyrics of the anthem is based on the poem «Туган ягым» ('Native Land') by Ramazan Baytimerov, as is known from a story written by him in the 1970s. Many unknown authors took part in the revision of the poems. Baytimerov's poems inspired the composer Röstäm Yaxin to compose a song, the melody of which became the national anthem of Tatarstan in 1993. The new lyrics of the anthem consists of the first two verses sung in Tatar, followed by two verses sung in Russian. The lyrics were translated into Russian by Assyrian-Russian poet Filipp Pirayev. ( ) or Ak Bars ( ) is an ancient Bulgar symbol, which has served as the official symbol of the Republic of Tatarstan since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Its name is translated literally as , and it typically refers to the snow leopard. Historically, this symbol was used in Volga Bulgaria and the Khanate of Kazan ( Qazan) – predecessors of Tatarstan – as a state symbol. The snow leopard symbol comes from the totems of one of the Bulgar tribes – the Barsil. According to legend, the Barsils founded Bilär in Volga Bulgaria. The creator of the current emblem is the artist Rif Fäxretdinov (Риф Фәхретдинов). Three scripts are currently used for the Tatar language: Cyrillic (in Russia, including the Republic of Tatarstan, where it is an official language and where the majority of speakers live, and in Kazakhstan), Latin (in Turkey, Finland, the Czech Republic, Poland, the USA and Australia) and Arabic (in China). The state flag of Tatarstan, a republic of Russia, was introduced in 1991. History The Supreme Council of the Tatar Soviet Socialist Republic adopted the flag on 29 November 1991 in its present form.
