Starlite Records
Esquire Records was a UK jazz record company and label founded by Carlo Krahmer and Peter Newbrook in 1947. It issued recordings by British musicians and others, under licence, from the American Prestige label, the Chicago blues label Delmark, and the Swedish Metronome label. The company lasted until the mid-1970s; after Krahmer's death it was run by his widow, Greta Krahmer. In the 1980s, Newbrook (died 2009) reissued much of the Esquire jazz catalogue in an "Esquire Treasure Chest" series of LPs. The company had a subsidiary, Starlite Records, for non-jazz recordings, including skiffle. Carlo Krahmer
Carlo Krahmer (born William Max Geserick, 11 March 1914, Shoreditch, London – 20 April 1976, London) was a British jazz drummer and record producer. Biography Born in Shoreditch, London, Krahmer was partially sighted. He made has first record in 1939 and in the early 40s made recordings with Johnny Claes’s (1916-1956) band. Peter Newbrook
Peter Austin Harley Newbrook BSC (29 June 1920 – 19 June 2009) was an English cinematographer, director, producer and writer. Newbrook was born in Chester and educated at the Chester, and Worcester Cathedral schools, and the Ewell Castle School. He began his career as a trainee cameraman and focus puller with Warner Brothers British studios at Teddington in London. During the Second World War he made Army training films with the Army Kinematograph Service and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. In 1947, with drummer Carlo Krahmer, he co-founded Esquire Records, which specialised in jazz. In the 1970s due to the decline of the British film industry he turned to television. He worked at Granada and Yorkshire Television and spent several years with Anglia Television in Norwich, making episodes of the popular drama series '' Tales of the Unexpected''. Jazz

Blues is a music genre and musical form that originated among African Americans in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Prestige Records
Prestige Records is a jazz record company and label founded in 1949 by Bob Weinstock in New York City which issued recordings in the mainstream, bop, and cool jazz idioms. The company recorded hundreds of albums by many of the leading jazz musicians of the day, sometimes issuing them on subsidiary labels. The company's began releasing jazz records in 78 and 45 RPM formats in 1950. The Prestige label includes the 13000 and 25000 cat# series. Prestige International was a sub-label of Prestige, active from 1960 to 1969, that mostly released folk music. In 1971, the company was sold to Fantasy Records, Fantasy, which was later absorbed by Concord Records, Concord. History The Prestige office was located at 446 West 50th Street, New York City. Chicago Blues
Chicago blues is a form of blues music that developed in Chicago, Illinois. It is based on earlier blues idioms, such as Delta blues, but is performed in an urban style. It developed alongside the Great Migration of African Americans of the first half of the twentieth century. Key features that distinguish Chicago blues from the earlier traditions, such as Delta blues, are the prominent use of electrified instruments (especially the electric guitar), and especially the use of electronic effects such as distortion and overdrive. Delmark Records is an independent, American jazz and blues independent record label. It was founded in 1958 as Delmar Records and is based in Chicago, Illinois. The label originated in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1953 when then owner, and founder, Bob Koester released a recording of the Windy City Six, a traditional jazz group, under the Delmar imprint. History Born in 1932 in Wichita, Kansas, Bob Koester was the son of a petroleum engineer. While in the hospital with polio when he was a child, he listened to the radio and was cheered up when he heard Eddie Condon and Benny Goodman. Warner Music Sweden AB (previously Metronome Records) is a Swedish record company and label, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group. The Swedish division of WMG is a successor to Metronome Records, which was established in 1949 by Anders Burman, Lars Burman, and Börje Ekberg and was based in Stockholm. and concentrated on pop and jazz. Skiffle
Skiffle is a music genre, genre of folk music with influences from American folk music, blues, Country music, country, Bluegrass music, bluegrass, and jazz, generally performed with a mixture of manufactured and homemade or improvised instruments. Originating as a form in the United States in the first half of the 20th century, it became extremely popular in the United Kingdom in the 1950s, where it was played by such artists as Lonnie Donegan, the Vipers Skiffle Group, Ken Colyer, and Chas McDevitt.
