Stargate Games
''Stargate'' games are inspired by the ''Stargate'' franchise, which started with the 1994 film, ''Stargate'' directed by Roland Emmerich. The games in this article are not related to the 1981 arcade game ''Stargate'' by Williams Electronics. Games ''Stargate ride'' ''Stargate SG-3000'' (abbreviated to ''SG-3000'') is a simulator thrill ride based around the highly successful MGM television series ''Stargate SG-1'' that made its debut at The Space Centre in Bremen, Germany in December, 2003. A reproduction has now been built at Kentucky Kingdom, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Six Flags Great America. As of 2006, Six Flags Great America no longer shows Stargate SG-3000. The contract with the park expired and the movie was pulled about a month before the season started. Stargate
''Stargate'' is a military science fiction media franchise owned by Amazon MGM Studios. It is based on Stargate (film), the film directed by Roland Emmerich, which he co-wrote with producer Dean Devlin; production company StudioCanal owns the rights to the original film. The franchise is based on the idea of an alien wormhole (specifically an Einstein–Rosen bridge) device (the Stargate (device), Stargate) that enables nearly teleportation, instantaneous travel across the cosmos. Samantha Carter
Dr. Samantha "Sam" Carter, USAF, is a fictional character in the Canadian–American military science fiction ''Stargate'' franchise. Played by Amanda Tapping, she appears in all three shows in the franchise: ''Stargate SG-1'', ''Stargate Atlantis'', and '' Stargate Universe''. She was a main character in all ten seasons of ''Stargate SG-1'' (1997–2007). Following a recurring role in ''Stargate Atlantis'' for three seasons (2004–07), Carter became a main character in Season 4 of ''Atlantis'' (2007–08), and also appeared in the 2008 direct-to-DVD ''SG-1'' films '' Stargate: The Ark of Truth'' and '' Stargate: Continuum''. West End Games
West End Games (WEG) was a company that made board, role-playing, and war games. It was founded by Daniel Scott Palter in 1974 in New York City, but later moved to Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Its product lines included ''Star Wars'', ''Paranoia'', '' Torg'', ''DC Universe'', and '' Junta''. History Scott Palter received a JD from Stanford in 1972 and joined the New York State Bar before he began work at the family firm, Bucci Imports. Drawing on this financial connection, Palter was able to found West End Games, named after the bar in which the meeting that finalized its founding occurred: the West End Bar near Columbia University. Initially a producer of board wargames, In 1983, Palter hired Ken Rolston, Eric Goldberg and Greg Costikyan as game designers, and WEG's focus turned away from traditional wargames. A role-playing game (sometimes spelled roleplaying game, or abbreviated as RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of player character, characters in a fictional Setting (narrative), setting. ''Stargate Atlantis'' (usually stylized in all caps and often abbreviated ''SGA'') is an Adventure film, adventure and military science fiction television series and part of MGM's Stargate, ''Stargate'' franchise.
