F-94 Starfire
The Lockheed F-94 Starfire is a first-generation jet powered all-weather day/night interceptor aircraft designed and produced by Lockheed Corporation. It was the first operational United States Air Force (USAF) fighter equipped with an afterburner as well as being the first jet-powered all-weather fighter to enter combat during the Korean War. The F-94 was developed to fulfil a specification issued by the USAF in 1948, seeking a new interceptor capable of day and night operations to replace its piston-engined types in light of recent military advances made by the Soviet Union. The F-94 was derived from the successful Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star trainer; being a relatively simple conversion from an established aircraft led to USAF officials viewing it as a low risk option and opting to procure the type. Maintaining a high level of parts commonality with the preceding aircraft, the majority of the F-94's external changes were related to the adoption of a larger nose that accommod ...

Starfire (Star Hunters)
Starfire is a fictional character appearing in publications by DC Comics. She first appeared in ''Starfire'' #1 (August 1976), and was created by David Michelinie and Mike Vosburg. Development Co-creator, David Michelinie discussed the character's creation: "As I recall, I was asked by ditorJoe Orlando to come up with a female sword-and-sorcery character to be DCs answer to Red Sonja. It's always fun and challenging to create new characters, especially when you get to create a new world to put them in. But I was already writing a fairly traditional sword-and-sorcery book at the time in Claw the Unconquered, and I also had no desire to opyRed Sonja and simply put new names on the characters. So I came up with the sword-and-science angle, putting the series more in the realm of fantasy than barbarian action. I wanted a tone that was more in line with Edgar Rice Burroughs' Mars and Venus books, than with Robert E. Howard's muscle and magic epics". Co-creator Mike Vosburg, discu ...

History The Starfires were formed by Tom King at Shaw High School in Cleveland in 1958, and remained a popular local band through the mid-1960s. Their forte was rhythm and blues instrumentals, with occasional vocals by King. Also, his uncle, Patrick Connelly owned a record company, Pama Records; and the band (along with at least one single by Tom King individually) produced several sides over this period, notably "Stronger than Dirt" (which charted locally) that was based on a well-known jingle for Ajax Laundry Detergent. These engines were fitted to all Australian designed Holdens of the same years, and the four-cylinder ''Starfire'' notably also found its way into the Toyota Corona (XT130). The ''Grey'' motor is a different engine from the others, while the ''Red'', ''Blue'', ''Black,'' and even the Starfire are all inter-related with many common parts and castings. Grey The ''Grey'' motor, built between 1948 and 1963, (the last on 2 August 1963) earned its name as the engine block was painted grey.
