Star Wheel Press
Star Wheel Press is a Scottish indie/folk/pop band from Aberfeldy, Scotland. It was formed in 2010 when the guitarist and banjo player Craig Milton met the singer and lyricist Ryan Hannigan at a gig by the Edinburgh indie pop band Aberfeldy in the town after which it is named. The band released an album in 2011, ''Life Cycle of a Falling Bird'', which was that year's biggest selling album in the Avalanche Records shop in Edinburgh after extensive patronage by the shop's management and the renowned crime novelist Ian Rankin. Airplay and press coverage The band's first radio airplay was by Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music with other DJs on the station and a number of presenters on BBC Radio Scotland such as Vic Galloway, Ricky Ross and Tom Morton also playing it. Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with a DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, Independent record label, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free. In later years, the definition of ''indie pop'' has bifurcated to also mean bands from unrelated DIY scenes/movements with pop leanings. Subgenres include chamber pop and twee pop. The Scotsman
''The Scotsman'' is a Scottish compact (newspaper), compact newspaper and daily news website headquartered in Edinburgh. First established as a radical political paper in 1817, it began daily publication in 1855 and remained a broadsheet until August 2004. Its parent company, National World, also publishes the ''Edinburgh Evening News''. It had an audited print circulation of 8,762 for July to December 2022. Its website, Scotsman.com, had an average of 138,000 unique visitors a day as of 2017. The title celebrated its bicentenary on 25 January 2017. Admiral Fallow
Admiral Fallow are a Scottish musical group formed in 2007 by singer-songwriter Louis Abbott and based in Glasgow. They were originally named Brother Louis Collective. The band's first album, ''Boots Met My Face'', was released worldwide in 2011. Their song "Squealing Pigs" was used on NBC's ''Chuck (tv series), Chuck'' and was performed live on the BBC's ''Hogmanay Live 2011''. James Yorkston
James Yorkston (born James Patrick Yorkston Wright; 21 December 1971) is a Scottish folk musician, singer-songwriter and author from the village of Kingsbarns, Fife. He has been releasing music since 2001. As well as recording as a solo artist, he has released music with his backing band the Athletes, as part of the Fence Collective, and as a member of the trio Yorkston/Thorne/Khan. He has also written fiction and non-fiction books. Influences and early years A native of Fife, James Yorkston was an integral early member of the Fence Collective, a collaborative group of musicians including King Creosote, The Aliens, KT Tunstall, The Beta Band and The Pictish Trail. Samantha Crain (born August 15, 1986) is a Choctaw Nation songwriter, musician, producer, and singer, signed with Real Kind Records (an imprint of Communion Records). The ''Daily Record'' is a Scottish national tabloid newspaper based in Glasgow. The newspaper is published Monday–Saturday and its website is updated on an hourly basis, seven days a week. Tom Morton
Thomas Morton (born 1955) is a Scottish broadcaster, journalist and author. He lives and works mainly in the Shetland Islands. Life Morton was born in 1955, and moved to Shetland in 1987, three years after his wife, Susan, who was a General Practitioner (GP). Richard Alexander Ross (born 22 December 1957) is a Scottish musician. He is lead singer of pop-rock band Deacon Blue. Alongside his discography with Deacon Blue, Ross has released a number of solo albums: his first, '' So Long Ago'', was released in 1984.
