Star Channel (Latin America)
Star Channel (formerly known as Fox and Fox Channel) is a Latin American pay television channel operated by Disney Media Networks Latin America, a part of The Walt Disney Company Latin America. The channel is mainly oriented towards family audiences, unlike its sister channel FX which is aimed at young males. Most shows retain their original English-language titles. History The channel was originally launched as Fox, a localized version of the American television network Fox Broadcasting Company. The Spanish-language broadcast began on 14 August 1993 and the Portuguese-language feed broadcast began on 17 September 1994. The channel took part in the worldwide premiere of '' The Walking Dead'' on November 1, 2010, and the Zombie Invasion Event promotion that led up to it. After the final episode of the first season of ''The Walking Dead'' aired, Fox released the uncensored version of the first episode. 1080i
In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Each of these lines contributes to the overall detail and clarity of the image. The letter "i" stands for Interlaced video, interlaced. FX is a Latin American pay television channel. It is intended as a counterpart to Fox Life (which became Star Life, now defunct), the first being produced for the Young and Adult audience, while the latter is almost entirely programmed for the female viewers. It was launched in May 1, 2005. History The channel started broadcasting on May 1, 2005 under the slogan ''Lo que el hombre ve'' (what men watch). At launch it was received by 5 million households and had secured agreements with Sky Brasil and cable television associations in Mexico (PCTV) and Colombia. Fox Corporation (commonly referred to as Fox Corp or simply Fox) is an American multinational mass media company headquartered at 1211 Avenue of the Americas, 1211 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan, with offices also in Burbank, California. Acquisition Of 21st Century Fox By Disney
The acquisition of Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc. by The Walt Disney Company was announced on December 14, 2017, and was completed on March 20, 2019. Among other key assets, the acquisition included the 20th Century Fox film and television studios, U.S. cable channels such as FX, Fox Networks Group, a 73% stake in National Geographic Partners, Indian television broadcaster Star India, and a 30% stake in Hulu. Grupo Firmas Globales (Legally registered as Multimedios S.A. de C.V.) is a Mexican media conglomerate with holdings in broadcast television, radio, publishing and entertainment.
