Star Channels are a multiplex suite of pay television, premium Middle East and North Africa, Middle Eastern and North African subscription television channels owned by The Walt Disney Company EMEA. Its programming consisted mostly of Dubbing (filmmaking), non-dubbed movies and series with Arabic subtitles. History The network started launching in Middle East on January 24, 2006, by Fox Networks Group, Fox International Channels EMEA with the launch of Fox Series and on March 1, 2011, the channel was renamed as Fox. The suite was built as Star Channels on March 1, 2024, as Disney de-emphasized use of the Fox brand. On February 2, 2024, Disney announced that they would rebrand the Fox branded channels in Middle East to Star Channel (international), Star on March 1, 2024, as it pushed the Star branding from regional Asian use to worldwide outside of North America to avoid brand licensing fees to Fox Corporation for the continued use of the Fox trademark on active television network ... In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Each of these lines contributes to the overall detail and clarity of the image. The letter "i" stands for Interlaced video, interlaced. This is a technique where the image is not displayed all at once. Instead, the frame is split into two fields. One field contains the odd-numbered lines, and the other field contains the even-numbered lines. Star Premium (formerly known as Fox+ and Fox Premium) was a multiplex suite of pay television, premium Latin American subscription television channels owned by The Walt Disney Company Latin America. The network competed with HBO Latin America Group, HBO Latin America and its programming consisted mostly of Dubbing (filmmaking), non-dubbed movies and series with Spanish language, Spanish and Portuguese language, Portuguese subtitles. The network ceased broadcasting on February 1, 2022, in Spanish-speaking Latin America and on March 31, 2022, in Brazil with content being available on Star+ streaming service launched by Disney in the region. History The network was launched in Latin America, excluding Brazil, on June 1, 1997, by LAPTV, a joint-venture between Universal Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Fox Entertainment Group and Paramount Pictures.
