''Star'' is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language coming-of-age romantic drama film directed by Elan. The film is jointly produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad and Sreenidhi Sagar under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Rise East Entertainment. It stars Kavin in the lead role, alongside Lal, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan and Geetha Kailasam. The film follows Kalai, a youngster, who pursues his dream of becoming an actor while facing various obstacles. Initially, Harish Kalyan was cast in the lead role, but he was subsequently replaced by Kavin. The film was announced in August 2023 under the tentative title ''Kavin's Next'', and the official title was announced a few days later. Principal photography commenced in June 2023. Elan (director)
Elan is an Indian film director, screenwriter and lyricist who predominantly works in the Tamil film industry. Personal life Elan was making short films since he finished his schooling in 2007. He is the son of Stills Pandian, a photographer. Career In 2017, he worked on ''Graghanam'' starring Krishna (Tamil actor), Krishna and Chandran. It was a thriller film about the happenings of a night. The film, however, remains unreleased. After completing a love story script, he began working on the next one without reaching out to producers. By chance, a friend of Yuvan Shankar Raja asked if he had any romance scripts, leading to Elan's debut directorial, ''Pyaar Prema Kaadhal'' (2018). Kadhal Sukumar
Kadhal Sukumar is an Indian actor and director who has appeared in Tamil language films. After working as a comedian in films for a decade, notably in Balaji Sakthivel's romantic film '' Kaadhal'' (2004). Career Sukumar, the son of a farmer from Alanganallur near Madurai, came to Chennai in 1997, searching for an opportunity to star in Tamil films.
