Heather Stanning
Heather Mary Stanning (born 26 January 1985) is a retired British professional rower. As a member of the Great Britain rowing team, she is a double Olympic champion, double World champion, quadruple World Cup champion and double European champion. She has also been a British champion in both women's fours and quad sculls. Paired with Helen Glover in 2012, she won an Olympic gold medal, the first for their country of the 2012 Olympiad and the first ever British Olympic gold medal in women's rowing. She set the world record time in partnership with Helen Glover at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, and they retained their World title at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in Lac d'Aiguebelette, France. In 2016, they retained their European title at Brandenburg an der Havel, set the World Rowing Cup record time at Poznań and again won gold at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. John Stanning Junior
John Stanning (24 June 1919 – 29 May 2007) was an English first-class cricketer who played 16 matches in 1939 and 1946, nine for Worcestershire and seven for Oxford University. Stanning made his debut for Oxford against the Minor Counties in early June 1939, scoring 39 and 9. In five further matches for the university that season, he usually got a start but could not go on to make any really significant scores, his best game being the Varsity Match against Cambridge when he made 38 in the first innings and 39 not out in the second to help set up a 45-run victory. His next match, and indeed all the remaining games of his brief first-class career, was for Worcestershire, playing in the County Championship against Somerset. John Stanning Senior
John Stanning (10 October 1877 – 19 May 1929) was an English cricketer active from 1899 to 1903 who played for Lancashire and Cambridge University. He was born in Leyland, Lancashire, and died in Nakwin, Kenya. He appeared in 26 first-class matches as a righthanded batsman, scoring 964 runs with a highest score of 120 and held 19 catches. His father, also called John Stanning (1840–1904) was also an occasional cricketer and "a great supporter of cricket". He was the brother of Henry Stanning and the father of John Stanning junior. He was educated at Rugby School and Trinity College, Cambridge. Henry Duncan Stanning (14 November 1881 – 5 March 1946) was an English cricketer active from 1906 to 1908 who played for Lancashire. He was born in Leyland, Lancashire, and died in Kampi-Ya-Moto, Kenya. He appeared in 33 first-class matches as a righthanded batsman, scoring 898 runs with a highest score of 86 and held ten catches. He was the brother of John Stanning senior and the uncle of John Stanning junior. He was educated at Rugby School and Trinity College, Cambridge.
