Stanner E. V. Taylor
Stanner E.V. Taylor (September 28, 1877 – November 23, 1948) was an American screenwriter and film director of the silent film, silent era. He wrote for more than 100 films between 1908 and 1929. Biography He was born on September 28, 1877, in St. Louis, Missouri, and died on November 23, 1948, in Los Angeles, California. He was married to Biograph Company actress Marion Leonard. The worked together in ''Where the Breakers Roar'' (1908). ''An Arcadian Maid'' is a 1910 American silent drama film directed by D. W. Griffith and starring Mary Pickford. It was produced and distributed by the Biograph Company. Plot Priscilla (Mary Pickford), a maid newly hired at a farm, is courted by a peddler who tells her he cannot marry her unless he pays off a gambling debt. She steals from her employer to help him. During a fight on a train, the peddler is thrown off and later found dead in the woods by Priscilla. She retrieves the stolen money and returns it before the theft is discovered. Mack Sennett (born Michael Sinnott; January 17, 1880 – November 5, 1960) was a Canadian-American producer, director, actor, and studio head who was known as the "King of Comedy" during his career. Born in Danville, Quebec, he started acting in films in the Biograph Company of New York City in 1908, and later opened Keystone Studios in Edendale, Los Angeles, Edendale, California in 1912. Keystone possessed the first fully enclosed film stage, and Sennett became famous as the originator of slapstick routines such as pie-throwing and car-chases, as seen in the Keystone Cops films.
