Stan Jones (born January 13, 1943) is a Libertarian Party politician who has twice run unsuccessfully for the United States Senate in 2002 and 2006, and three times unsuccessfully as the Libertarian nominee for governor of Montana, in 2000, 2004, and 2008. He is known for his artificially induced blue-grey skin tone, caused by argyria. Medical condition In his book '' The Disappearing Spoon'', about the periodic table, author Sam Kean chronicled the experience of Jones, who developed argyria, which permanently turned his skin a blue-grey color, by consuming large quantities of home-made colloidal silver. Jones' purposeful consumption of silver, which he believed to be an antibiotic, was a measure he undertook in response to his fears that the Y2K problem would make antibiotics unavailable, an event that did not occur. Stanley Gordon "Stan" Jones (November 22, 1949 – February 6, 2017) was an American educator and politician. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jones moved to West Lafayette, Indiana in 1967. In 1974, Jones received his bachelor's degree from Purdue University. From 1975 to 1990, Jones served in the Indiana House of Representatives and was a Democrat. Then Stan served as senior advisor to Governor of Indiana Evan Bayh, a post he would hold for more than five years, before being appointed as Indiana's 5th Higher Education Commissioner in 1995. During his more than 12-year tenure, he is credited as the primary architect of several landmark education policy initiatives, including the 21st Century Scholars program, an early promise scholarship aimed at increasing the number of low-income students attending and completing a postsecondary education. Stanley Davis Jones (June 5, 1914 – December 13, 1963) was an American songwriter and actor, primarily writing Western music. He is best remembered for writing "Ghost Riders in the Sky". Early life Jones was born in Douglas, Arizona, and grew up on a ranch. His physician father was one of the first settlers in Cochise County, Arizona. When his father died, his mother moved the family to Los Angeles, California. He earned a master's degree in zoology from the University of California at Berkeley and competed in rodeos to make money. However, he dropped out in 1934 to join the United States Navy. After his discharge, he worked at many jobs, including as a miner, a fire fighter, and a park ranger. Musical career In his free time he wrote songs, and eventually more than 100 were recorded. Stanley Paul Jones (November 24, 1931 – May 21, 2010) was an American professional football player who was a guard, offensive tackle and defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the Chicago Bears and the Washington Redskins. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991. Jones is credited as the first professional player to use weight training to improve his conditioning for football.
