Stanley Cayasso
Oliver Stanley Livingstone Cayasso Guerrero (September 17, 1906 – August 4, 1986) was a Nicaraguan baseball player active from the 1930s to the 1950s. Along with Dennis Martínez, he is commonly cited as one of the best Nicaraguan baseball players of all time. Born in Bluefields in eastern Nicaragua, Cayasso's "Navy" team played a barnstorming tour of the country's Pacific coast in the early 1930s, which is cited as the catalyst for baseball's popularity in the country. Cayasso played the 1933 season for Managua, and later joined the "General Somoza" club, named after the country's dictator Anastasio Somoza García. In 1941, he joined the Cinco Estrellas club; technically part of the Nicaraguan National Guard, Cayasso's on-field performance saw him promoted to the rank of lieutenant. An infielder is a baseball player stationed at one of four defensive "infield" positions on the baseball field, between first base and third base. Conrado Eugenio Marrero Ramos (April 25, 1911 – April 23, 2014), nicknamed "Connie", was a Cuban professional baseball pitcher. The right-handed Marrero pitched in Major League Baseball from to for the Washington Senators. Marrero was a popular star in his native Cuba, where he had a long and successful career in the Cuban Amateur League. He pitched for Cuba in several Amateur World Series competitions, including the legendary championship game of the 1941 Amateur World Series, and played several excellent seasons with the professional Cuban League and the minor league Havana Cubans. Marrero made his major league debut when he was 38 years old, and was one of the oldest players in the league throughout the duration of his time in the major leagues. The 1969 Amateur World Series was the 17th edition of the Amateur World Series international baseball tournament. It was held, for the first time, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from August 15 through August 26, 1969. The 1965 Amateur World Series was the 16th edition of the Amateur World Series of international baseball. The tournament was held from February 12 through February 27, 1965 in the Colombian cities of Cartagena, Colombia, Cartagena and Barranquilla.
